Had to get the buns in. UD- Hosepipe ban rules
They were enjoying time in the run but before I knew it the farmer came out into the field behind our house in his huge tractor with mahoosive spray arms and started spraying the field
I got them both inside and were so scared they refused crunchies! They hid under the platform together so I popped a crunchy down in front of each of them and they started to eat them in the end.
Tonight or tomorrow before I let them out again I'm going to probably have to give the run a good wash and try and flood what's left of the grass just incase whatever was sprayed went on there. It didn't look like any was flying around as it was all concentrated on the field, but better to be safe than sorry!

We have a field at the back of us but we are lucky as we have some hedging but he has been mowing today with his big tractor and that's loud enough.
Poor bunnies hope they are ok xx

They do it every year.
I guess they don't think they need to warn us all as it's not harmful, or the fact that there are 11 houses that they'd need to go to.
I've no idea what it is they spray, it's not fruit or veg being grown, it might be hay or straw or corn- something like that.
Going to buy some readigrass when I go out I think until I can drown all the grass.

I did panic at one moment because he turned around at the top of the field by our house, he span round and the end of his arm missed the buns shed by about a foot.
I don't know if it was talent or a fluke!

They really should warn people I think.
Aside from the fact it could be harmful for buns What if you are growing your own organic food in your garden for example. I just dont think thats right!

Dot..I think I would try to find out who the man is and ask him what he was spraying. Aerosolized fertilizer and/or weed killer and etc particulate can travel in the air much further than your eyes can perceive. Bunnies' have such a low body weight that it doesn't take much of something to hurt them. I hope you have a downward grade towards his property so the rain water doesn't wash any chemical into your garden.

Re: Had to get the buns in. UD- Hosepipe ban rules
What's annoying is we also have a hosepipe ban so I can't easily wash everything! It's going to be carting buckets here and there for hours.
Luckily our garden sits upward of the field slightly so no product will wash into our garden, the field also has a very slight decline away from us. Luckily the buns were fine after last year. Imagine if I wasn't in and had no idea they had sprayed!
I really do wish they would tell us, I have rabbits, 2 doors up have geese, next door grow organic plants and several houses have dogs.
The buns are fine in themselves, nothing a few fenugreek crunches can't fix

I agree warnings should be given. I am sure other little animals are afraid of noise like this as well as bunnies. I can imagine their little faces; I hope they are OK.

Re: Had to get the buns in. UD- Hosepipe ban rules
Just found this re: the hosepipe ban
'Are there any exemptions to the hosepipe ban?
There are some exemptions:
Any activities that are necessary for health and safety reasons (i.e. necessary to remove or minimise any risk to human or animal health/safety or prevents/control the spread of causative agents of disease).'
Also, with some research it seems there are no strict boundaries on farmers warning neighbours on spraying, there is advice given like "good idea to think about telling neighbours" and "often best to be considerate"
