Re: Joey not well - UD Weds
Fran has your vet checked Joey's teeth at all as I'm wondering if he has a tiny spur on a back molar as this is just how Chudleigh was , he stopped eating and just sat huddled in a corner and we took him for a check up and she said he had the tiniest spur and that some bunnies can panic and make themselves ill even with the tiniest of spurs, Gypsy is the same he drools at the mouth and shakes with panic till the spur is removed and I am sat here wondering if Joey is the same

JoeyBunsMum wrote:Spoke to the vet and she confirmed it was probably the Vetergesic which caused Joey's spaced out behaviour last night. She also said they gave him 24hrs worth of water sub-cutaneously yesterday, hence why he's not been too fussed about drinking. Also suggested 2 doses of Metacam as he obviously in some discomfort still.
This morning there were encouraging signs, but this afternoon he has been stuck in his hut and now refusing even the parsley tree and orchard grass. Feels like we're back to square one
What am I supposed to do aside from syringing? Considering we've got a ******* four day Bank Holiday, is it best to just hospitalise him? It's highly likely he'll be back at the vets in the morning.
Oh no... come on Joey .... feel better sweetheart x

Re: Joey not well - UD Weds
Hiya, sorry I disappeared last night, was just wiped out for the day So an update: not too long after I'd posted the update last night, he started having a bit of hay Gave him a handful and he nibbled most of it! Left him to his own devices for a while and when I checked on him again he was out and about and looked a bit better He'd nommed some nugs that'd been left on floor, orchard grass and done a few more pops and wees
He continued to have hay and orchard grass, some parsley and he had a DRINK!!! And the little monkey was caught doing a binky too This morning he's eaten and theres been more binkies!!! Hopefully he's on the right track
The teeth issue is of course a little on my mind as this happened again 4 weeks ago. They've been checked thoroughly twice, but obviously the very back ones aren't really easy to check without GA. If anything like this happens again I will have to suggest a dental and x-ray. His has been on anti biotics for his nose problem for at least a months and finished his course on Tuesday, so who knows if that's anything to do with it.
Thanks everyone x

I'm so pleased to hear Joey is better!!
Thumper only had two dentals in her life but when she did need them, I never saw drool or her mouth wet.JoeyBunsMum wrote:

Joey is getting on really well, thanks for asking Jo. *Touch wood* I think he's back to normal.
Thanks Katie and Thumper for the teeth info, if this problem occurs again I think we're going to have to have a proper dental check.
