What a sweet little girl she is, sleeping on my chest, purred away then fell asleep so typing with 1 hand.

Re: meet bella
Forgot to add, shes an albino, and I really cant see how folk could bypass her just because of her pink eyes, they find noone wants albinos, due to there poor eye sight. I love her for her specialness.

Re: meet bella
What does REW mean, red eye ??? I really cant understand why folk are like that, they dont see perfection so walk past them, the ladies from our store are well chuffed I can see past this and see a beautufull little companion. Must admit I dont like most pets at home stores, but our local one has the best staff compared to the rest, always chat away to you, really nice folks. The vet they use is 1 of the best in the district so can never really fault them.

Re: meet bella
I am keeping her in a cage till after the weekend, let her settle with us and gain our trust then will introduce her to charlie in the hallway, plan to put the cage inside charlies hut so they get used to each others smells. She will be spayed but plenty time, he likes rosie its rosie that wasnt keen on him, so think should bond ok, just give them time, not feeding her veg for few weeks shes approx 10 weeks, so will wait till shes 12 weeks then start her on veg way I did with other babys. This is our last addition so feel complete now.

Re: meet bella
Will make a small adjustment to the run once shes in it, add extra shade area, the only main difference is they are more sensitive to sun light than normal colours, but your bunnys should be kept in direct sunlight anyway, mines are only out in the sun for about 10 mins then they go back in again, charlies run does get more light than the other 2s so will make small adjustment for her, which is not a problem to me as she is soooooo beautifull.

Re: meet bella
Shes still unsure but that will take time for her to settle.
Can see her scanning her head already so will need to tell the kids what to expect thats different from the other 3, doesnt mean there is anything wrong just how they are.

Re: meet bella
It means Red eyed white
Look how angelic she looks in those last two photos! Bundle of fluff
Yeah I think white buns are like white cats in respect to the sun and they can get badly sunburnt ears and even skin cancer so on really strong sunny days you could put animal suncream on her ears

Re: meet bella
Need to get some sunscreen, where can you get it, I have tones for kids but not changing putting that on the bunnies, never seen any in the shops either. Shes sitting in the cage on top of the dogs crate, I am not putting her outside for few days at least, let her gain some trust with us, before transfer her and cage into charlies big house.

Re: meet bella
Yeah it's a good idea she can get used to you first.
About the suncream I'm not 100% sure- maybe someone else will know?
I know that some people just use an SPF of 30-50 human lotion for their cats but I'm not sure if this safe for buns as well.
I've found a couple of pet ones but they are only SPF 15 but then again she may well choose the shade for the whole of the day until it cools down so you may not need to worry.

Re: meet bella
Charlies only out during the day if its cool, he was only out in the sun the 1st day I took photos of the run because it was his 1st go, but he lay in the shade of the chairs I was using to block his escape. I am going to put some tarpolan over half of the roof area, once I figure out what way the sun comes over it, no point putting it on the wrong side. Their run has less shade than the other 2, they have the shade from the shed.

shes very nervous
I am noticing shes very nervous, smokey and rosie werent when we got them but they had been handled with loads of kids right from about 5 weeks old, not that I agree but seemed to help them. Bella has been in quarenteen (cant spell it lol) since they got her on sunday, which means their not allowed to handle them, so think maybe its just that, hopefully she will be ok in a few days, I put my hand near her slowly and she thumps the gets frightened. I try to talk to her at same time and move slowly. Once I start to rub her cheek she relaxes tho, but its just the hand coming towards her thats scaring her.

Re: meet bella
She's beautiful Dougals rescue said the same about REWs, they stay in there for ages. My first bunny was a REW nethie and I adored him, I don't understand the whole "they look evil" thing.
I hope its love at first sight for her and Charlie

Re: meet bella
She's beautiful
I am just a little worried about the scanning as it could be a sign of an ear infection, or she could be short sighted as a lot of REW's can be or it could be a sign of blindness, even e.cuniculi.
Just keep an eye on her as if she is nervous or a bit wary this could be down to her eyesight being poor.
Sadly white and black rabbits are always ovelooked at rescues, a lot of people don't like the red/pink eyes in the whites and it put's them off which is a shame as white and black rabbits are just beautiful.
Just noticed you asked about sun block I would ask your vet as I know they make some for animals but they can be toxic for rabbits so
she may know of a safe one for rabbits, we just use to make sure that any of our REW's were in deep shade all the time or we would put them out in the garden late in the day when it was cooler and the sun had gone in.

Re: meet bella
She will be booked in to vet on monday, they had vet check them over on the thursday morning, she was giving all clear, they said the swaying is expected all the sites say same, its not bad just when she sits still and you go up to her, shes nervous unless you speak at same time, so once she gets used to our smells she hopefully will be fine. Playing away in her cage, once shes more relaxed will let her stretch her legs in the living room. I am putting stuff over the mesh on the run soon to shade it more, and getting big pipes from a friend so this will also allow shade. Will put a platform above the pipes (not high) so that will add extra shade too. She acts normal when your watching her from sofa, just when you go up to her she tries to back into corner, head sway tbh isnt that noticable I see it because I know its there but kids think I am seeing things lol.

Re: meet bella
There heads move from side to side, its very small movement but its only really noticable if you know its there if you know what I mean, its there way of taking in there surroundings. She only does it when you go up close to her.

I'm pretty sure it's when they are continually moving their head from side to side as if scanning the room.
Here's a vid I just found:

Re: meet bella
Bellas not even moving that far, just a wee bit from side to side, but only when your right up at her, probs trying to say get out my way cant see whats behind you. She doesnt like her head being touched, between her eyes, must be reducing her vision or she cant see what your doing so it freaks her out. So kids been told no touching her head, gentley stroke her neck and her back and she is fine.

Re: meet bella
Just went out again to see her, and shes already much happier, she came to me, instead of backing away trying to hide, gave me gentle nose nudges, and didnt seem to be moving her head as much either.

Has she been wormed yet? I would be inclined to give her a course of panacur just incase it isn't her eyes.
