about the unexpected buns !!
I suppose it serves me right for always browsing through the preloved pages really!
I always see buns that look so sad, that I know in my heart could have a better life with me, but of course if I took them all Id literally have NO garden, so I have been really strong....however :o
Yesterday I came across an advert for a male conti, clicked on the picture and saw he was in a small plastic cage, I looked further and this seller had a number of different adverts for rabbits, and other small animals.
I contacted her and asked her about the conti, she said 'still waiting to get rid, can't handle it'
I asked about the other rabbits out of curiosity and found there was 2 pairs and 2 singles, including conti.
Some not been handled for nearly 3 years and each pair live in 4ft hutches and never been out.
I told Dan about them, thinking he'd say 'oh well you can't save everyone!'
But to my surprise he says 'how much does she want for all of them?'
Arranged to collect them and ended up coming home after 3 trips with 6 rabbits and 3 hutches and a plastic cage....
I was up late last night ordering stuff for them.
Iv ordered 2 big 6.5ft hutches, 3 puppy pens [that will be made into 4 cages] & toys.
All need vacs, never been done, 2 need neutering, to be fair Im impressed that the 2 pairs have been neutered.
All of them seem very scared, but conti isn't too bad, just can't wait to get him into a big hutch and run instead of that tiny plastic cage....my hamsters cage is nearly the same size.
I will get pictures uploaded of them from last night.

Pictures
These are pictures from yesterday.
Unfortunatly they will have to stay in these hutches until the hutches and runs arrive that Iv ordered, hopefully tomorrow
However they are going out in their groups later when I have time to supervise..so will get more photos of them then!
This is Benjamin in his cage...he can hardly sit upright in it.
These 2 lads are Elwood & Jake, 3 yr old Conti X's
They're very nervy and haven't been handled in nearly 3 years
This is Perdy & Stu, 3 yr old lion head crosses, apparently Stu is very aggressive but Iv been stroking him & Perdy today with no objection from Stu.
Last but not least is Margo, she is about 18months old but they didn't know if she was a boy or a girl...Iv checked and am almost 100% certain she is a she. Apparently she can't be handled because she bites...Iv had her out this morning and she enjoys nose rubs!!
They're all pretty overweight IMO, especially the 2 boys, so will be on a bit of a diet.
Hopefully they'll settle soon and get used to being here.
Lots of vet trips this week for vacs and neutering....wish us luck

Re: about the unexpected buns !!
Oh well done for getting them all to safety as God Knows where they would have ended up, your amazing
Poor Benjamin he's absolutely gorgeous and stuck in a small plastic cage how heartbreaking, and Elwood and Jake are just like our conti x girl Tia.
They are all so gorgeous Bless them,
Well done!

Re: about the unexpected buns !!
Well done you. How fantastic that they have been taken on by someone who knows exactly what they are getting themselves into and just how to care for them properly
Benjamin is stunning - I can see why he caught your eye. They are all lovely
I hate to ask what their diet has been. You'll probably find that with more room to move around and be active, the weight will come off relatively easily (although of course this needs to be a nice slow process). Humum also finds that buns with adequate space have far less of a tendency to be 'aggressive'.
If the 4' hutches are in reasonable shape, you could always join them together and make an 8' one if you need to
At least it seems that this 'person' has managed to put herself off having rabbits again, so there is less chance of her simply going out and getting more

Re: about the unexpected buns !!
From what I can gather they have been fed various mixes, I was given a bag of rabbit royal so will use that then change over to pellets.
It doesn't seem like they're used to hay, they had non in their cages and they don't seem interested in it. Iv given them all some cabbage but non have touched it so wether they've even had veg before I really don't know!
Iv put some pictures of Benjamin up on the photoshoot page

Kate, you are an angel for helping these beautiful and precious bunnies that God created! Your husband get an A+ in understanding! I'm sure they will gradually come out of their shells and be happy in this loving forever home you are providing for them.

Re: about the unexpected buns !!
Well done for the fantastic rescue, I'm sure now they're in a loving home they'll settle in and their personalities will shine through It's so frustrating seeing people describe animals as aggressive when they've not tried to understand them and treat them the proper way.

Re: about the unexpected buns !!
Its shocking how folk keep them, espiecailly the conti, my friend has a conti, but she has the run of the entire house, its a indoor bunny as where they stayed wasnt safe for him, neighbours nasty folks, but her mum died and left her the house, so shes moving shortly, it has a huge back garden. To which I told zyel, now is the best time to get her outside, its not going to kill her with temp changes by time winter comes in she will adapt. Also gives her plenty fresh air and sunlight.
