unexpected results of a spay
So as some of you may know my bf has a male lion head called Sheamus. Well after getting him he ended up with a female lion lop [pops], and the only reason he agreed to take her on with the intention to bond them. She had to go in for her spay on Friday while we were out for the day and got a call at twelve. He was all flustered because we both knew this was way to early to be contacted and he was imediatly worried, but the vets had some unexpected news.
Pops has no uterus or ovaries. They asked if she had been operated on before had to which we said no as she came to him at 12 weeks old. They thought it quite unusual and so did we! they said they even had two vets to check to make sure and neither had encountered this before in a rabbit. Had a chat with the vet when we went to pick her up, he said she could have ovaries as they can rest quite high in the body and they didn't want to route around in there too much, but that there wasn't even any uterus tissue. So little pops is a medical marvel, and the bf is down £50 he didnt need to pay, but as i said to him we never would have known before. Shes all happy now and eating, but when i left we were both still getting the cold shoulder
Just thought i would share, in case anyone else has had this in their rabbits? thought it was rather interesting/unusual.

Wow, that is unusual. I would tempted to contact a specialist and ask about this to be safe. I assume the homones will still be present with associated problems.

Im pretty sure she didnt, and the vets confirmed there were no other signs of scars ect, we were asked just in case.

Thats a good point, will have to have a research to see if there is someone who can advise on this.

Re: unexpected results of a spay
Just to add in, I think the P@H VIP rabbits were spayed using pinhole techniques so would not necessarily have big scars. When did he get Pops and where from?

She was only twelve weeks when he got her and she came from someone whos rabbits had a 'accidental' litter and the owner wanted rid of the babies asap so im pretty sure she hadn't been operated on beforehand.
