Diet Question
When Marley and Dolly come indoors, ill be reducing their pellets a bit more to just a table spoon between them, which will go in their treatball. Im just wondering what wild plants will make up for this and also help them eat more hay? Is it worth buying a bag of mixed herbs from Galens Garden and giving them a handful each day?

Re: Diet Question
I'm discovering that simply not giving Nibbler an alternative is making him eat more hay. I've obviously tried to give him nice hay that he'll enjoy, but I think the majority of time he'll try and search for something better than just have his hay.

Theyre eating a lot of hay anyway, but if they dont have hardly any pellets, i need to make up for the lack of nutrients some other way.

They get veg every few days, i suppose they will be fine, i worry too much i think. Anyway, just ordered some dried herbs online, ended up using Bunny Bazaar and getting the Burgess ones, but i also ended up spending £26 on some disinfectant wipes, treat hay and a cardboard castle as well!! I thought Marley deserved it, seeing as though their pen has a pink theme!

Re: Diet Question
Oh dear Sophia, that "I'm just getting the one thing... Oh and I'll have that, and that, and Ooh she'll like this, and this" sounds familiar. What can we do? We are owned by our buns

I have self control when i go into normal shops (unless im with xxranxx) as its now getting to the point where they have had everything, or a variation of it! Im having to broaden my sights to the internet to find something new ...things seem to get more pricey too once youve exhausted most toys. I dont know why i bother, theyre quite happy with a toilet roll tube stuffed with hay, but they just look SO COOL!

Re: Diet Question
How much pellet food do they get now?marleyNfriends wrote:Theyre eating a lot of hay anyway, but if they dont have hardly any pellets, i need to make up for the lack of nutrients some other way.
If by nutrients you mean microscopic amounts of vitamins, metals etc, then the amounts involved are so tiny that a few pellets, some veg and some herbs will probably cover all bases. The Hu-parents have discovered that Morrisons do huge bunches of herbs at 2 for £1.50 so they are shopping there a lot at the moment.
As you know, what a bunny needs most is fibre. And a treat at bedtime

Were at just under a quatre cup scoop now, but as they are science selective pellets, it wont even be that because theyre quite large and an irregular shape.
