Dougal has been having a few egg shaped poops
I was just wondering if meds can cause bigger poops and a couple of egg shaped poops?
Dougals poops have gotten bigger the past few days and they look fine but there has been 1 or 2 egg shaped ones the past few days too. He does loads of poops and have not noticed a lot of these types but should I be worried? or does this happen sometimes? I am at the vets Friday so was wondering in case I needed to ask her. I am just worried as I have read up on the poop watching and egg shaped was 1 I noticed that you need to look out for as it could indicate something is wrong but I am unsure.

Medication can cause bunnies to do poops that are different , they can be different shapes, differ in size and even be a different colour and this is quite normal when they are on meds

The bigger soze may also be due to better diet. The gold standard poo is quite large, golden and crumbly. You will become poo obsessed as a rabbit owner. I made my friends really laugh the other day. I was up at their stables and looked down on the very small dark poos on the ground as said 'are these from your local wild rabbits' 'oh yes' they said 'Oh dear, they are very well at all' I reply. And they got a 5 minute explanation of good poo.

Molly and/or Junior quite often do egg shaped poo and they eat a huge amount of hay.
I was concerned about it at first too but the hoppers assured me its fine. The poo of a hay eating rabbit was new to me when they came to live with us - Thumper was a no hay bunny!

I love that, yes I find myself getting obsessed with it too, as long as it is not runny or sticky then he will be fine then, you have all put my mind at ease. Ye he eats a lot of hay anyway but even more now he has cut down on pellets, last stage of cut down starts next week so that he is only getting the egg cup size amount which he will hate, he acts like I am starving him now. I do not have an egg cup but I can go off what it says on the bag and weigh it.
Thanks everyone, my mind is a ease now. Just me to sort out now, I am not well atm and have a few problems, got an appointment at hospital later today which I am a bit worried about, I feel awful today but of course Dougal still gets his humums attention and love, he did not want me to leave his room but I need to sit down properly an hour, he is a humummys boy. Wish me luck.
Oh and I know I say this often but I really do love this forum and all you lovely people on it, good humums and hudads. I do not know any other forum that is as helpful and warm and welcoming.

You might find the amount on the pack a bit generous - they want Dougal to eat more so you have to buy more. As a guide, our mini lop Theo is 2kg and gets 15g twice a day. He does act like he is starving all the time, but his weight is stable and he's not allowed more pellets due to his teeth.BugsBunny wrote:I do not have an egg cup but I can go off what it says on the bag and weigh it.
Lots of vibes for you, too - I hope your appointment goes well and there's nothing to worry about
(PS - you could fit quite a nice comfy chair in Dougal's room... I'm sure he would even share it with you sometimes )

Rory is doing some egg-shaped ones at present. Literally! He's having the heaviest
molt that he has had since we have had him and we have egg-shaped ones strung together.
We'll break out the pineapple juice!

Re: Dougal has been having a few egg shaped poops
A shot glass sounds good to me, problem is I do not have those either as I do not drink often and now not at all as it causes my heart to go mental on me and sometimes have mild allergic reactions. it sucks as I love Baileys. I just try and have 1 or 2 baileys drink at xmas now and have never been a big drinker anyway, I could always take it or leave it and only drank a few times a year. I may have drank a bit more but with my heart dancing like a loon and being in bisoprpolol now to control the ectopic beats it does not mix well. Plus I can't drink on migraine preventative tablets .
I will get 1 though or see if my older bro has 1 or just buy a egg cup or do the amount you do Amanda.
Do you think he would share a chair with me? he does not like staying on my knee, today he has been following me around the room as he always does, waiting at the gate for me and sitting next to me a lot but he doesn't like sitting on the knee, but he can sit next to me on a chair though to maybe I will put one in some time.
My appointment was good but have to see another specialist once I get doc to refer me to check me out further and hopefully nothing bad or serious is wrong, this is nothing to do with my heart though and my heart is controlled and nothing major to worry about, I am under a cardiologist now, ste made me go, so been with cardiologist for 6 months-ish . He has to see me earlier though as the tablets where causing my heart rate to go into the 40's which is way too low and bo to be a bit lower than so he is seeing me in 2 weeks and told me to half my tablets til then.
I have a few problems but newt compared to my hubby, bless him.
