Dougal been vets- still got eye infection
Dougal has been a good boy and had his meds again, he has his check up tomorrow at 10:50 and his scab fell off today on his eye along with a bit of fur and couple of lashes, bless him, he is okay though, it is pik but looks way better, just hoping he does not need any more meds from tomorrow, not at least until he is neutered when I book him in in a month.
He is definitely lively though and has been a bit norty as he pulled the tile I had leaning against the wall to stop him stripping the wall paper and when I came back in the room an hour ago it was on floor and he had been stripping wallpaper. I saw it and he knew he was busted so he looked at me as if to say "it wasn't me humum, I am an angel, you know this" , was so funny, he just looked more guilty . He does not do anything else wrong and only has his odd moments, he has not tried doing this since we stopped him and he knew not to about 3 weeks after we got him. He just decided today he would. I think it is because his pellets have been reduced further and he wanted me back in the room , so he did it for my attention, only this time I did not hear him as my mum in law was here.
I got the cutest saddest face a bunny could ever pull when he was waiting for his pellets with the baby food and readigrass with his meds, he heard the bag , ran to the gate and pulled the best sad look ever. Like I am starving him.
Vibes for the vets please, hoping he is okay now he is back to liveliness and monkey business

Re: Dougal been vets- still got eye infection
Dougal still has an infection in his eye, it has healed on the brow but under the lid of the eye is swollen and vet said he is best taking more anti biotics for 5 days as rabbits do not cop well with infection and can cause abscesses. poor little baby, the trip made him stressed today as we got in 35 mins late as somebody with 2 bloody cats was in before us so he was in his box longer than he usually is.He is very tired today and wound up. Hopefully he will be okay, he was so happy yesterday and he sat at my feet etc. I am going to sit with him later, got my cousin staying so we will keep him company for a bit if he is up for it.

Re: Dougal been vets- still got eye infection
Aw, poor Dougal
I hope the antibiotics help, at least you have found a good way to give them to him.
We try to make our appointments for around 6pm as they tend to be fairly quiet then and are usually running on time - I know that's not so easy for you not driving but the Bun Taxi is always available if you need it
Does he need to go back next week?

Re: Dougal been vets- still got eye infection
Thanks for the advice, if my dad cannot run me when I need to go again I will let you know, if you are sure you do not mind.
I do not have to go back in unless it starts swelling again or I am worried he is not right. Lets hope he is okay, I will have to get him neutered in a month, I hope the little guy gets rid of the infection soon. Feel sorry for him.

Re: Dougal been vets- still got eye infection
Sorry, I have been so busy past 3 or 4 days so have not been on. Dougal is still taking his meds and doing good thanks. We had a problem other day though as we only had pear flavour baby food left and he did not like it, but eventually ate it after mixing it like crazy with dried herbs.

Re: Dougal been vets- still got eye infection
I'm glad he took the food / meds in the end.
Will he actually let you look at his eyelid properly to see if the swelling is going down?
I'm surprised he doesn't like the pear baby food - that was Taffy's absolute favourite! He was disgusted when the vet said he was only to have the vegetable ones

Re: Dougal been vets- still got eye infection
I've just seen this
Hope Dougal's eye will soon improve, I find any eye problems with rabbits takes
time to heal and get better I presume it's because it's such a delicate area.
Sending Dougal lots of Vibes xxxxxxx

Re: Dougal been vets- still got eye infection
I can try and look under his eyelid , but for now I am just going to complete the meds course. vet said 5 days and this is the 5th but he has some left so I am going to ring to see if he has to use it all or whether today was the last day or not.
Nope he hates the pear and loves the apple. He is a fussy bunny but they all have different taste likes us humums and hudads do. I feel sorry for him as he is only a baby and has an eye infection and has to have meds, poor baby.
Humum gives him lots of attention and love to keep him happy though, thanks for the vibes.
