I think Chewy might have an ear infection. *sight*
As if I haven't had enough with my poor Kenzo.
I noticed Chewy has been acting a bit sleepy for the last few days, not wanting to go out of the hutch (it's a hutch, but it's kept indoors 24/7 by the way, I failed at making it waterproof last year so it's an indoor hutch), not jumping on his greens and pellets like he usually does.
He's also had crusts around his eyes which I've been cleaning up with serum.
Today I checked him and his ears seem fine from the outside, but when I press and move around the base of the ears I can hear a "flip flop" sound that worries me. Also, his ears STINK horribly!
I'll ring the vet tomorow morning and see if I can get an apointement with the exotic specialist asap.

Oh hun. I have never heard of anything like this? Can you see anything when you look in? Are the base of his ears swollen, what does it smell of, does he have crusty build up in his ears? Healing vibes x x x x

His ears look fine and perfectly healthy, not swollen, no crusts. But they smell horrible! I don't know how to describe the smell well, but it's almost like something rotten, definitly an infection smell.

I sure hope so too, thanks.

Alright, I took Chewy to the vet and I worried for nothing.
He's fine, the vet just said his digestion is a bit slow but nothing to worry about as long as he's eating well.
He said that the crusts around the eyes are because of the tempature changes going on at the moment, and his ears have alot of earwax, that's why I heard this weird noise and they smell horrible.
He cleaned them and told me to clean them once a month with a spray to clean cats and dogs ears.
I'm SO glad he has nothing serious, I really didn't want to go through what happened to Kenzo again!

What a relief for you Lottie. I'm so glad that it isn't anything scary. He's a lucky boy having such a devoted person to worry about him. xx
