The poop problem just continues!
As you all know, Willow had a sticky bum for a few days. I've had her pretty much on hay only ever since, and gave her Fibreplex for a few days which cleared it up. They then got a tiny ration of pellets between them re-introduced after her tummy had cleared up, and we're now back to square one. I am seeing both healthy poops but also LOTS of cecals, way too many for my liking. I can't even tell who has the poorly tummy anymore (I'm pretty sure it's Willow, though).
WHAT DO I DO
I am at a loss. They're both 100% fine in themselves. They're back on hay only over the last few days with no effect.
I did speak to my vet and she said if she's eating and drinking and active then to just keep her bum clean and see how she goes, but I'm thinking it might be time for a vet visit, although I'm not quite sure what a vet is going to be able to do.
Could it be the heat? It can't be dietary, she's only been on hay.
I did wonder whether maybe one of them has developed an intolerance to the SS pellets, but they've been eating them for months now (I changed Willow over as I started giving them to Mojo in October) with no problems. Also, if the pellets were causing the upset, would it still be going on days after they've been off them?
I just want this to sort itself out!!

Re: The poop problem just continues!
I would think that it is partially the heat. If it is happening on just hay then it won't be the pellets causing the problem. Maybe give more fibreplex over a longer period of time and/or introduce a probiotic with more bacteria in it. I think the Hay experts sell the full range.

Re: The poop problem just continues!
I think the heat has something to do with it - but would also suggest the fibreplex too.
I have just got a box of fibrefirst..... they are not so keen on it, but we will persist. I think Im going to replace any nuggs with this.
Hoping it all clears up soon hunni x

Re: The poop problem just continues!
Thanks guys
Willow's bum is actually a lot better today with next to no cecals in sight! I'm not getting my hopes up because she's done this before, but fingers crossed that's the last of it, eh?
Rob, Willow and Mojo are both already on the Science Selective

Thanks
Everything seems to be back to normal now - they're almost back to eating their full amount of pellets and all poops are looking good still

Yes Maysie, I was starting to get really worried.
I think we'll try to introduce some veg again very slowly tomorrow night. They'll be over the moon!
