Vibes for Reggie please... u/d all better we think

At least they are beginning to unravel the puzzle! Father Jack did the V.E.T. say what type of anemia it was?(ie. nutritional, bone marrow disorder or other?) Bless her little heart. Sending healing vibes for you Reggie!  for your Huparents!

Reggie had some *tiny* spurs right at the back of her mouth burred down. She had a head x-ray and a body x-ray and everything on those looks absolutely fine  

Her blood test results showed slight anemia / slightly low red blood cell count. The lab are running a new set of tests free of charge. We're hoping they come back normal. If they still show slight anemia it might just be a case of waiting another week and running more bloods. The treatment for anemia would probably be steroids, a route Humum is very reluctant to go down without making sure it's absolutely essential. The specialist vet did say it would be incredibly unusual for a rabbit to be anemic.

Humum is off for three days so is going to give her a normal dose of meds tomorrow, then less on Sunday and see how she does. Last time we tried her without them she was poorly again very quickly, but if it was the tiny spurs bothering her we might have solved the problem.


Reggie is in a pen on the dining table, looking surprisingly perky and happily tucking into some noms

Well, she has had no meds since the ones she had after her op yesterday. She seems bright and alert and has eaten really well today, including hay. She got put back out at teatime and nommed all her pellets up. She's just mugged Humum for two-and-a-half mini shredded wheat. Her poops are looking good.

We're really, really hoping this is the end of it. Humum wonders if it really was those tiny, tiny spurs. If she is up at the bars begging for her breakfast in the morning it'll be a really good sign

Maybe she is like Bruce. The vets are often stunned by the mini size of the spurs that cause him to stop eating. If they catch in the wrong place they must be really painful.

She binkied for her breakfast  and nommed it all up  

Humum did mention Bruce to the vet when the vet expressed doubt due to the tiny spurs. It is looking like that is what it was. At least we know for next time, hopefully it'll be pain relief and ranitidine to keep her going then a dental.

Our last few bales of hay have been a bit fresh and soft - Humum is going to order a sack of Timothy and Rye to mix in as they all love that and it's usually nice and stalky.
