Poor Helen :-(
As you know Helen has a twisted spine and so sometimes when she is sat up grooming herself she topples over and we usually have to get her up. Sometimes she can get herself up but it's a struggle. Tonight we fed the buns in the garage and made sure they were all settled for the night and switched the light off. We have been going in to check Helen from time to time with losing Baby Saint and we went in to check her tonight and she was on her back struggling to get up with all her little legs in the air
Mike quickly got her up and we sat with her, she was shaking and was so stressed and we think she has hurt her back and so Mike has given her some metacam. I shall check her again soon.
Poor Helen as if she hasn't enough to go through Bless her. I seem to spend my day's now in tears

Re: Poor Helen :-(
Helen seems a lot better this morning she has stopped shaking and is sat in her big litter tray eating hay. I can't help but feel a deep sadness for her as Baby Saint wasn't just the love of her life she was also a great cushion for Helen as Baby Saint would often prop her Mummy up, in fact they were amazing to watch together as they seemed to know each others problems and help each other with them.

Feeling so sad for Helen. Your last post Maysie brought a tear - it's amazing to see buns (or any animals) interacting like that, helping each other get along....bless her, I hope she doesn't feel too lost without Baby Saint.
More hugs for all of you

Re: Poor Helen :-(
Maysie, when I had Rosie (littleboots) she used to fall on her back and was unable to get up... I remember how I worried incase she did it while we were in bed or out or something.... so i made lots of sort of sausage type draught excluders and put them all round her living quarters.... it helped loads as she could sort of bounce off them and get upright again.... sorry im not explaining this very well.... but if you want me to make you some i will xxxx (bit like stopping a horse getting cast)

Your post brought tears. Poor Helen. Poor you. Poor Mike. Such sadness. Part of me wishes you had a tiny baby bun to stick in her cage for her to love on. She was such a good mother. But she has E.C. doesn't she? I just want to make it all better for all of you.

Re: Poor Helen :-(
We get towels and stuff them in Mike's clean long sock's and put a sausage round her pen for her and Baby Saint but I like them that you make and would be willing to buy some as they look nice and big and roundLittleboots wrote:Maysie, when I had Rosie (littleboots) she used to fall on her back and was unable to get up... Oh gosh not heard that for years 'like stopping a horse getting cast', I've got ropes and got a few horses in my time uncast, stood in a stinky smelly dyke holding a horses head up out of the water to make sure it didn't drown ( as you know they soon give up the fight ) till the firemen arrived and she was heavily pregnant to and helped a mare deliver one healthy foal. Oh those were the days...I loved being with the horses!
