Dodge has the all clear:D
Since coming downstairs this morning dodge has not moved out of his crate. I'm quite worried as he normally helps me push the crate door open so he can get out and he then spends the next half hour running around before relaxing for breakfast.

Re: Dodge has the all clear:D
Right have you got any Infacol? And a syringe? Failing that I would suggest a vet visit. IT does sound like Statis babe.
Re: Dodge has the all clear:D
I don't have any infacol, I cant get him in at the vets tonight so it looks like an emergency vets call out :( I dont want to wait until tomorrow..
Can I get infacol from any chemist?

You can get infacol from Tesco or any supermarket...... need to do 1ml Infacol....10mls warm water... then give him tummy rubs...

Re: Dodge has the all clear:D
Hi Karina
Sorry Dodge is causing you some worry
Has your vets surgery already shut for the evening? If not then I would run him down now for a check over incase he is in any pain and to get him some metaclopromide if it's not a blockage. What food have you tried to tempt him with?
When was he last dental checked?

Re: Dodge has the all clear:D
The vets that he is registered to closes at 4 on wednesdays :(
They told me I can get an emergency vet out of he cannot wait until tomorrow.
So far I have tried him on all his favorites and his pellets. So banana, strawberry, coriander, grass, spring greens, broccoli. He didn't even run over when I had a yohgurt and a packet of crisp like he normally would for his usual begging ritual I normally get.
I've just been to buy him some infacol, and some syringes. I even bought some mumtaz vegetarian baby food (garden vegetables and another mumtaz mango and banana) just to try and tempt him to eat. (I know that these shouldnt be fed as they are high in fats and arent a helathy choice but it was better thatn the other baby foods that they had as its all natural products with no extras just pure vege and fruits. I will do anything to get him to eat.
His teeth were checked three weeks ago and he shows no sign of watery eyes. He still grinds his teeth happily when I stroke him.
sorry if i'm not much help or not giving clear information. I've never had to do this before :(

Re: Dodge has the all clear:D
Do you mean he is grinding now when you stroke him? If so where are you touching him?
Give him 1ml of Infacol followed by 10mls of cooled boiled water and follow this with tummy rubs. Do not try him with any baby food yet, you need to make sure his stomach ingesta is well hydrated and easily movable before adding anything else which may 'back-up' in his GI tract. The Infacol/water should be repeated once an hour, aim for 10mls of water but don't force it down and make sure the syringe is pointing across his tongue rather than down his throat to prevent aspiration.
I don't suppose you have any probiotics in the house do you?
Another way that can encourage them to poo is to put the litter tray of a starnge rabbit in their space or let another rabbit into the room whilst he s in his crate, this can stimulate them to produce feaces in an effort to mark their territory. It tends to work better in males than females.

Re: Dodge has the all clear:D
He normally grinds his teeth when I stroke his ear or give him nose rubs....is that not normal?
I have the pro biotic yogurt drinks....are they any good?
do you think its worth trying to get him to eat some of the baby food? he did a cecil poop but it was hard but still looked like normal cecil poos. he didnt eat it though :( I can post the nutritional information and ingredients of the food if needed?

Re: Dodge has the all clear:D
Chance grinds his teeth when I stroke him, but not in a pain way... in a content way. Is Dodge grinding his in a pain way do you think?
Re: Dodge has the all clear:D
He always grinds his teeth in a happy way.
I'm worried now because his cecil poos were hard :/ they have never been like that before. They are usually squishy

Re: Dodge has the all clear:D
If he has done a ceacal thats dry then my recommendation at this stage is water not food, it's showing that his stomach ingesta is dehydrated. I would leave it a few hours with just the Infacol and water before attepting force feeding.
Don't give him the probiotic yoghurt, rabbits are lactose intolerant. It might be worth preping up a first aid kit for use in future.

Hope everything goes OK, make sure they check him for any blockages, check his teeth and give him Painrelief and Metaclopromide if he needs it! *fingers crossed*
Re: Dodge has the all clear:D
Well he has done a few more poos.....I've never been so excited about poo before. He has had his infacol and has retreated to sit on the desk.

Re: Dodge has the all clear:D
Yay for poo's!!!! Its weird when it is all about them eating and pooing. Things you normally take for granted.
Re: Dodge has the all clear:D
He's now sulking
Just wait another hour dodge and you'll be having it again. More infacol and belly rubs......something tells me he wont like me very much today.
