Binky Free Big Bella Bunny

Hi All, It is with great sadness that I have to say my Big Bella went to the bridge on the 23rd October. She was 5 years old. I am pleased to say she did not suffer. She went to sleep in a snuggly hay bed, freshly made. She had been poorly in the spring with a bit of a respiratory problem which cleared up with the good weather. She was however failing terrible, her back end was wobbly and not always under control and she was losing weight. It was all sadly, just old age. On the night of the 22nd I went out to do the feeds. She wasn't herself and her chest was making a bit of a noise. I somehow knew we were at the end. She was warm and comfortable and really did look as though she had gone to sleep. She has left behind her husband Ratman and a very sad two year old boy and myself. She will always be an incredibly special bun and I am grateful for the time we had together, but as with any rabbit - it was all too short.

Thanks for the links to the other threads, she came to you before my time on the forum and it was nice to see the other piccies. I like the way the other Hoppers knew she would end up yours too  

She was a big bun with a huge character and I can imagine the hole she is going to leave in your lives

Ha ha they all knew that big girl would capture my heart. It is at times like this that I wonder why I go back for more with bunnies. But they are such a pleasure and so hard done by in the general realm of pets. Poor Ratman has been left behind and bonding him has been a hard decision as he is now a tripod bunny, but it has gone well. He is now bonded with my rabbit Lily, who went on loan to a friend after Lily and my friend's rabbit lost their partners at the same time. And Lily has brought home with her a new husband called Ted who is a Giant. Not as big as Bella mind. So Ratty is a ménage a trois! I just hope my beautiful Bella approves.

I am so sorry to hear your sad news about Bella

She was absolutely beautiful and clearly shared an amazing bond with you and your son. Those pictures are adorable! What a gentle girl.

I'm so very sorry to hear about Bella.

I don't know if you know but the day I first logged onto HH you had made a post about her bursting through the cat flap into your kitchen and pinched an apple which she was then slurping all over the place. You spoke about her with such joy and love in that post that it made me decide to stick around as I'd found somewhere for people like me and bunnies like mine.

She was a big girl with a gorgeous personality to match and I loved the wonderful tales of Big Bella, the Tiny Chance and cheeky Ratty - they would always make my day.

So I send you a big Thank you Bella because you made a difference to me and therefore any buns that I help and love.

It's absolutely true. I'd never been a forum type - I'd joined to get some advice on Daisy's illness and stayed and chatted that day because I loved the tale of Big Bella and the slurpy Apple.
