vibes for Patch

Patch has a poorly right eye    He closes it tightly if I try to look at it and has is squinting with it. He had a box earlier so might have bashed it. His poorly eye is difficult to see as he shields it from the light preferring his left eye to look at me. Please can Patch have some vibes? I hope it is just a bash and he isn't ill.

I will check him again at 10

It may be worth a vet trip tomorrow to check the eye hasn't been scratched by the box. It may need drops.

If not, I would suggest you get it checked out as if he has scratched his eye, you need to ensure it doesn't develop into an ulcer. Usually, you get drops or cream to apply and if it is a scratch, it heals pretty quickly.

Oh no, poor Patch

Willow is prone to a weepy eye and sometimes I'll bathe it in sterile water 2/3 times a day and that helps it to open up again. You could try that through the day but if there's no improvement tomorrow then I'd head to the vets

How is he doing?

Thanks for all the vibes. Patch went to the vet at 12.00 today (with Daisy for company). It wasn't too bad to get them in the carrier as we have been training them as it said in Rabbiting on, usually it's really difficult!

Patch's eye was really bad at 12.00 and he wouldn't open it but as he was scared at the vet he opened it and pretended it was ok, the vet got some goo out from it when she gave it a good clean with a sterile cotton bud soaked in sterile water and there was a hair stuck down in his eyelid. The vet gave me some Fucithalimic drops, they are a gel that dissolve when they go on the eye.

I dropped them off at home and went back to work, when I got back home at 17.00 Patch had his eye open! Although both he and Daisy didn't want to come out when they had new hay so I left them for a bit to relax (normally they chase me down for new hay when I come back from work). There were some small poos too. Later on I gave Patch his eye drop and he squeezed hie eye shut again. Maybe an hour later both of them were hopping about eating their hay and looking happy

I'm glad they've fixed Patch's eye. I hope he continues to improve

Humum came home from work once and poor Dougal had one eye swollen up like a prize fighter. It looked horrendous but a couple of days of drops made a huge difference. He had the ones which had to be kept in the fridge. He was Not Keen on (as he put it) having ice thrown in his eye twice a day  

I am so pleased to here this love, noserubs all around.

I'm glad the cause was found and eliminated! I hope that Patch's eye is soon feeling better and no longer inflamed.    

How is Patch now?

Patch seems better now, it's so difficult to tell as I only ever get to see him when it is dark outside and I don't like shining the torch at their eyes. He comes of the drops tomorrow though and seems happier. He has been so good with the drops and sits still when I put them in
