Re: Poorly MJ :(
He was eating fine before the vet app, app went ok, he checked his teeth again and still can't see anything. Given more painkiller just in case. Now he won't take any food but I will give him a while, they are always upset when they have had to travel.

Re: Poorly MJ :(
Oh, poor MJ
I really hope he starts to get better ASAP.
I'm not sure if it would work in your situation as he's not keen to eat, but if you can maybe try and mask his meds in treats/herbs. I use Mini Shredded Wheats to give Willow her meds as she is just impossible to syringe feed. The shreddie should go quite soft as well as the meds make it a bit soggy (yum!)
Sending lots of vibes for him. Please keep us updated

Re: Poorly MJ :(
Is he any better yet? If you don't see an improvement soon and can't get him off the meds, I'd really recommend you have him sedated and his back teeth checked. This is exactly what we went through with Reggie last year and it took 2 weeks of keeping her going on meds before the third vet to look in her mouth finally saw a tiny sore on the back of her tongue. She'd had blood tests done and was booked in for x-rays so when they put her under for those they sorted out tiny, tiny spurs on her molars and she has been fine since.

I agree with this, Arfa our blind boy who is ill at the moment with a mass was given a full health check before we took him on and his vet at the time said his teeth were perfect. Sadly when he went for a dental check up at our vet's as he had stopped eating his carrots and pellet food he had to have two teeth that were loose taken out on his left side and his right side he has severe dental disease. His x-owner was so upset she changed vets straight away. I know she is really upset about it but I've told her not to be she wasn't to know she went on what her vet said and I said even if we knew about all his problems we would have still taken him on.

Re: Poorly MJ :(
I too think pesky teeth may be an issue. All of my trusted rabbity vets admit that at times they cannot see the very back molars clearly if at all. Given mine all squirm and chew at the scope and have such small mouths I am surprised they can see anything.
A couple of times now when they have carried out molar burring they have said the far back ones have been the worst but these were not seen on examination.

Re: Poorly MJ :(
He's still not 100%, he's not had meds in almost 2 weeks and he has been almost completely back to normal in terms of behavior but he's still not keen on pellets and doesn't seem to be eating fiba first sticks as much as he did before. He seems to be wolfing down fresh herbs and hay as much as normal and he's been munching happily on a willow ball.
Today he has done something a few times that he's never done before - circled Temperance. I'm not sure what that means (the fact that he's never done it before that is, he does it to us at dinner time but never her until today).

Re: Poorly MJ :(
I think the circling is a sign of love..... and it is springtime after all!!
Has the flavour of the nuggies changed at all? What do you feed them. Both mine seem to be a little less keen on their Excel at the moment....

Re: Poorly MJ :(
They get excel as well, been on the same bag for a while so the flavour should be the same. He's eaten quite a lot of the willow ball, he's still eating it now. I know the circling is love (of wifey bun or noms! ) its just odd that we've never seen him do it before and he's now done it 2 or 3 times since I got home. Tonight he ate all his pellets then tried to steal T's :/

Re: Poorly MJ :(
Dougal did this with me a few months ago and took him the vets and nothing was wrong, I then got a fresh bag of excel nuggets and it worked. It may be that they are smelling a bit different with being on same bag for a while or going stale. Try getting a small bag like we did and see if it makes a difference. I was advised by th hoppers to do this and it did the trick.
