Vibes for Layla please...

Layla has a tear duct infection   

When Humum went to give her breakfast yesterday, Layla came bounding out of the hutch and demanded Humum look at her eye, which was a bit weepy. Humum booked her in to the vet for the evening and by the time she got home from work it looked very sore indeed. There is no damage or ulcer on the eye, it is all in the tear duct. She is on Baytril and eye drops for a week then back for a checkup. She has also had the fur clipped short around that eye to stop it getting matted   and now looks like she is wearing a monocle   

The nurse who clipped it said she could not believe Layla just sat there, good as gold, and let her clip round the eye. She is also being very good about having her meds and eye drops

Oh Bless her that does look inflammed but the Baytril and eye drops should see it right. We have had quite a few boarders with
eye problems stopping with us and so we have been going round like nurses with eye drops and meds.

Well, she spoke to soon about the meds   

The success with the first lot must have been a pure fluke, with Layla still a bit perplexed about the vet trip. Picture one Humum kneeling on the kitchen floor, with one Layla pinned between her legs right up against a kitchen cabinet so Layla can't escape forwards, trying to get Baytril into her mouth by luck, feel and guesswork while Layla does her best to be a tortoise   

That's going to be fun for the next week  (Humum is going to try the basil leaf trick tonight but 1.75ml of Baytril is a lot, and Layla is daft but far from stupid....)

Herbie used to make like a tortoise too - tucking his chin right into his chest. Syringing anything was a nightmare.

Layla's eye looks fine now, although she'll get her meds until she sees the vet on Monday. She took her baytril in a mini shredded wheat last night, it remains to be seen whether she will fall for that twice  

I'm glad her eye has improved and I'm hoping she continues to fall for the Mini Shredded Wheat trick. It took Willow ages to work out what I was doing

What about Banana, we give Arfa his meds on banana sometimes, in the past we have put it on a bit of Ryvita.   

Never had to disguise any medicine o far, so of no help or practical idea, but sending take meds vibes just in case.

We have to give Baytril to Daiz every night.... It's not easy, so good luck Hun x

None of us like banana, except dried. Graham hates the Septrin as much as baytril so is going onto alamycin injections from Monday...
