Rosie, the Steps of Doom and Mats of Menace.
My Rosie Moo is just the funniest rabbit at times Despite some hands on or rather 'step-on' training she still regards the three steps down from the decking to the garden with the greatest distrust. She absolutely refuses to hop down them despite watching BJ and Hollie do so. She will go back up them but refuses to use the middle step And if there is anything more menacing than the Steps of Doom, it is the Steps of Doom with the evil rabbit catcher of Horwich sat on them (aka me!). She is one very cross bunny if I sit on them. BJ and Hollie will hop up by me with no problem but Rosie - no way. She treats me to a few choice stamps to let me know of her displeasure.
And now to add further to the terrors in the garden she has to conquer her fear of the Mats of Menace. On Monday Chris and I replaced the foam mats in the threesome's run with some nice, clean new ones, even the same colour. Will she put a paw on them - absolutely not. She went down the runaround tunnel to the run - took one look and sniff, then promptly backed up the tunnel back into the shed
She is such a silly goose

Re: Rosie, the Steps of Doom and Mats of Menace.
Am glad I have made you smile
This morning Rosie did step onto the mats - it was either that or have me pick her up She opted for the lesser of the two evils. However she dived straight away into the tunnel in the run and stamped. I hoped she would then realise that the mats were harmless but I still have yet to see her out in the run of her own accord. She is such a stubborn creature

Re: Rosie, the Steps of Doom and Mats of Menace.
No, she is still not having it
As today it looks like it is going to be hot in Bolton she needs to be able to get out into the run. With shades over the run it is generally cooler in there than in the shed later in the day. So I am afraid I was rather cruel, picked her up and plonked her in the run. She sat frozen for a bit and then started moving around the run - not hopping but doing the cautious bunny walk When I allowed her the chance to 'escape' she didn't straight away but carried on investigating. She then started to hop - so hopefully she has got the message that the mats are safe and can be trusted.
Rosie wins the award for being the most stubborn of all the buns. Despite her appearance of being timid she is actually a very determined, stroppy mare at times.
To make her point about how she feels about me, she rarely takes a treat from my hand. She prefers to go and pinch one from Hollie or BJ

They do have their personalities don't they! And some people think bunnies are boring pets! We are having a wonderful time learning about Guinness' personality. It's like layers of an onion being peeled back slowly as he gets more comfortable. I wish I knew why he likes to sit on my shoulder. Perhaps he thinks he is part parrot?

Re: Rosie, the Steps of Doom and Mats of Menace.
They are exercise or children's foam play mats that interlock together. Aldi were selling them very cheaply a couple of years but this latest lot I got through ebay. They came as a pack of 8 - if you put in interlocking exercise mats on ebay they will come up. The buns have never chewed the ones I have used in the run. I think 8 cover about 32 square feet.
