Re: Wet nose UD 31/08 pm, not eating
Took them in this morning, consultation took an hour where they went through loads of questions and explained all possibilities re the mass in her mouth, poor Temperance was thoroughly poked and prodded by the vet and a student, while another 4 students watched on (we were asked before hand if we minded the students being there). The vet was happy enough with her general health (she's very clean, mobility is good, shes bright, good appetite) although gave her a body score of 1 for being skinny (300g is a lot to have lost when you only weighed 2.3kg to start with but still not nice to hear), also she has a sore hock
She said the surgery would go ahead today and she would get some pre med drugs straight away.
We left them at 10am, at mid day the vet school called to say the surgery had gone 'as expected', that she was still recovering and they'd be keeping her in overnight and that they'd call later with an update. I've not had a call about an update yet.
Hopefully we'll get her home tomorrow!

Re: Wet nose UD 31/08 pm, not eating
Glad to hear everything went ok. Will check in later for potential update.
Hopefully the weight loss is "just" because eating has been a bit uncomfortable for her.
Get well soon, Temperance!!!

Loads of recovery vibes.
Make sure they send her home with plenty of metacam not just for post op recovery but also for the sore hock.

Just been doing a bit of catching up as have been really busy with work recently.
I am sorry to hear about Temperance having to have an operation. Hopefully, one of the fiestiest bunnies on HH will come out of this well. Keeping fingers and toes crossed for a swift recovery and return to good health xx

Re: Wet nose UD 31/08 pm, not eating
Home at last! She's looking a bit worse for wear, the fur around her eyes is a bit wet looking from the stuff they put in their eyes under anaesthetic and her ear is still lopping a bit from the IV. When she came home she just ran straight out the carrier flicking her feet, then flaked out behind the sofa looking very sad and tired. But she is up and about now (only 30mins later!).
She has lots of drugs to take:
Tramadol 0.2ml twice a day for ten days
Metacam 0.8ml twice a day for ten days
Septrin 1.25ml twice a day for ten days
Zantac 0.53ml twice a day for 5 days
:|
She has stitches in her mouth, and the vet said they had to remove a lot of tissue to get the full thing removed so there it wasn't possible to completely close the wound. She has to go back next week for a check up, at that point they'll also be able to tell us what exactly the mass was.
She's looking sleepy again, but I think she is glad to be home

I am so glad you have her home with you and that she is getting back to her old self. When animals recover from something, they seem to do so much quicker than we. Lots of noserubs on their way hun.

She is fine! her little ear is still a bit loppy but otherwise she is doing well, in fact her slightly loppy ear is about the only way you'd now anything was out of the ordinary managed to give her her meds without too much of a battle (although it was still a 2 person job).
Here she is eating her dinner last night

Re: Wet nose UD 31/08 pm, not eating
Not good. We've been out all day since about 11.30am, got home about 8.30pm. Let them out, she came out fine and wet and sat behind the sofa which is not unusual. Heard her moving about but every time I looked she looked ok. Went to give her her dinner, wouldn't touch it. She got up and hopped off and her back end looked wobbley. It was like she was going to stretch but kept hopping, but then she was hopping normally. She's done this a few times. Gave her her meds about 40mins ago. Tried her with dinner again and a barley ring, still not interested. Went to tesco to get fresh herbs as we'd ran out, she won't touch those either nor the critical care stuff. She's visibly pressing her belly against the ground. I tried massaging her belly but she hopped off (also to have a feel at it, to see if it felt obviously weird but I've no idea what I'm feeling for so I couldn't tell). I've split their pen in two and put them away, so i can see if she eats/poo's. I'll give it a couple of hours (to give the meds a chance), but if she's still not eaten/poo'd we'll have to call the emergency vet.

This is not what I wanted to see
Come on gorgeous girl! Don't let it get you down now, you've been such a wee trooper through all this.
Got everything crossed that she's feeling better sharpish

Re: Wet nose UD 31/08 pm, not eating
Called the emergency vet, they said that there aren't any meds they'd give her that she's not already on so to syringe feed her. So we've given her about 1/3 of a syringe of critical care (not sure how much they should get in one go). Fingers crossed

Re: Wet nose UD 31/08 pm, not eating
Still crossed here too!!
I can't help with the CC
Can you hear any belly noises? Also maybe try syringing some warm water into her? And try getting her to move around. Have you got some fresh grass you could try her with?
That's about as much use as I can be I'm afraid

Re: Wet nose UD 31/08 pm, not eating
Just seen your message, I'm at work now and hadn't thought to get her any fresh grass or listen to her belly.
She'd eaten all her herbs, pellets and 2 barley rings this morning. She didn't take any more herbs or pellets when offered this morning, but she took a barley ring. I've left her with plenty herbs, pellets, hay and a couple of barley rings. I didn't syringe her any water but I did see her drinking last night. She has also done some poo's. They are quite small and dark but at least she's going.
They're still separated (although its only a puppy pen panel separating them) which I feel bad about but I want to make sure she's still eating/pooing when I get home.

Re: Wet nose UD 31/08 pm, not eating
Is she being given something like metaclopramide? I know exactly the movement that you are taking about, Bruce does it when he has belly ache. In his case a cocktail of metacam, ranitidine and critical care.

Glad you recognise the movement, I was worried there was additional problems
