Oh folks,Sad
I feel sick now.pale
What happened?
I was in the kitchen posting on HH when I looked out of the window. There is a rabbit sitting on the pathway to the house. 20 yards at the most. Me panick is this Vernon. Checked noe is in safe and sound.
Suspicion. Get some gloves on. Went out and checked. It was a wildie. Full of myxomatosis. He was so weak he didn't even attempt to hop away.No
There was only one thing I could do to end his suffer.
I talked to him and gave him a few strokes and than picked him up and broke his neck.
Double packed the poor creature and don't know what to do with it now. . Cremate him?
Binky free little boy. Sad Mad Hissy

I called my vet earlier. Out here is so ripe with Myxomatosis this year.
Jo the nurse offered me to bring Wild Boy in and have him cremated.
I also wondered about the state of my three. Yes there were all vaccinated in May but I read that if there is a current outbreak, and it is here, they may need a booster. vet on duty, not the bunny experienced one was busy, so I will chase up on this.
Just so shaky. I have promised to never do any harm to a bunny and then I have to kill one. Not sure whether it was the right thing to do!
Silly me

Me again,
Just had a call back from the vet.
They will contact the manufacturer of the vaccination on Monday.
Previously the Myxomatosis and VHD vaccs were separate and may needed boosting every six month. Since it is now a combined vaccination they are unsure of how to act.
Can I please urge evryone(doubt that it will affect many onHH). Get your bunnies vaccinated. It is horrible to see a bun full of myxomatosis. Will let you know the outcome when available.

Thanks for the advice sweets, Holls is really up to date with her jabs. I have seen bunnies with myxi although only on the TV and that tore me apart. Thank you for keeping us up to date love.

Hugs

Oh Hun this must have been so very awful.

It's an evil disease, you did the right thing for him and ended his suffering. I think what you did was very brave and I'm sending you a hug xxx

Mine have had the combi so would be interested to hear if they get any extra cover from having it early or sooner x

Oh no, how awful. You definitely did him a kindness - it sounds like such a cruel disease and seeing a rabbit suffering up close must have been heartbreaking. Thank you for stopping him having to endure it a moment longer. Hope you are okay xx

I'm ok. Had a phone call from the vet this pm. They have spoken to,the manufacturer of the vaccine. It is lasting 12 month despite an environmental outbreak. So means if bunnies are vaccinated they are safe.
