Re: Seb's World..
There is so little education here for our furry friends, all I can do is speak up, seems like a drop in a big bucket,
See I told you they would want to bring more lol. What a lucky bunny to come your way. (fluffballs giggle)

Re: Seb's World..
Time to tell Seb about the birds and the bees!
I know he's been short changed ... just a wee joke.
Bet you're getting butterflies.

Ha ha, we all have our off days love and buns are just the same. Sometimes Holly is much quieter at times than others. It is wonderful news about lady bunny, I too am sending lots of loving and bonding vibes. Is she going to be paying the rent?

Re: Seb's World..
Seb has a young lady friend to bond with.......meet Dotty!! Dotty is 2 years old and has been rehomed as she lost her friend and was very lonely... and the family got a new puppy who constantly hounded her, wanting a rabbit lunch. Hence, we have rehomed her to bond with Seb. She is a Himalayan Netherland Dwarf and extremely beautiful. A lovely Red-Eyed White...
Seb checking her out from his run.....
Checking each other out from safe distance..... from their own pad...
another bunny to love....
Hoping the bonding process goes well! As you can see, the runs are close so they can see each other. Their hutches are close too. Lets see how its goes!

They are indeed! It's been fun watching them today! When Alaska (now named "Dotty" again) goes back up her tunnel, Seb immediately does the same!! I think he thinks his tunnel will lead to her... no such luck! It just takes him home, and her tunnel takes her to her separate quarters. I shall leave them watching each other for a while before attempting any meetings in the neutral pen. She is obviously a little anxious at the moment, new surroundings... so we will take it slow... love her already!

Re: Seb's World..
Her lovely Himalayan smudge compliments Seb's gorgeous white nosey stripe. They will make an handsome couple.
Love the name: Alaska! One of my favourite regions on earth, always wanted to go there.
Bet you will get a few Al-aska jokes!

Aawwwww,
Hello Alaska and welcome. They are a lovely couple already. Bonding vibes on their way, but I agree with Katie they look keen so you might not need the bonding vibes at all.

Re: Seb's World..
Alaska is now "Dotty".... which was her name all this time. We thought about calling her Alaska, but it just don't fit! So she's "Dotty" like she's always been. Sebastian & Dotty!

Re: Seb's World..
Thank You All x I am nervous about this bonding lark!
Today, Seb seems to be waiting for her to make an appearance. He is going into his run and just sitting there at the closest point to her run. He also gets up on his wooden hidey house to see her better and is very curious. They have eyed each other up through the weldmesh! Then they both get on with their own business, munching grass. This sound good???
Seb seems more interested in her, than she is with him but she is still settling in. Dotty is very jumpy and nervous but I'm sure she will realise we are a friendly bunch over time x
Anyone with bonding experience... feel free to share your top tips!

Re: Seb's World..
A perfect name - Dotty
Top tips for bonding, hmm. I have a 50% success rate so am not overly qualified! main thing is a small neutral area in a neutral room. I have used an indoor cage and small penned off areas in the past. I just dump a load of hay in, no litter trays in case the bunnies become possessive over them. I then scatter in pellets, dried herbs etc.
My preferred method, as long as there is no overt aggression, ie locked on/circling, is to leave the bunnies together. Splitting the bunnies up and then putting them back together for short bonding sessions can mean that the bunnies keep having to re-establish the hierarchy. I do know that some people prefer to bond this way and I accept that in some instances that this may be a better method. Some people start bonding by taking the bunnies for a drive together in a carrier, the theory being that if the bunnies are frightened they will huddle together. Whilst I understand the logic in this I am not entirely convinced bonding by fear is the right way to start.
Make sure you wear some thick gloves just in case you need to step in and separate them. Some people use a water spray but I have never done this. Also don't get to alarmed by some chasing and fur pulling and humping, this is quite normal. Don't increase the space too quickly either as this can cause territorial behaviour.
I think the main thing is to be flexible and be led by their behaviour.
Am still sending some pre-bonding vibes! Oh, by the way, I will be at Colchester/Felixstowe over Easter. Is this anywhere near you?
