Keep it up little girl.
Good to hear she's responding well. It's never easy nursing an injured animal and a traumatised bun needs so much love and understanding. You should give yourself a pat on the back.

Update 19.03 not sure what's going on
Now then,
After my stay in Portsmouth and discussing D'Laylas eating behaviour with Katie I phoned the vet again yesterday.
I was grooming her when I found something sticky and hard on her lower jaw. First thinking i messed with the metacam but found another wound on her neck/jaw area that so far had gone unnoticed.
Her sweet little face seems asymmetric and she is still pooling food to then let it drop out of her mouth.
The only time she won't do this is when it is puréed or cc paste.
Back off to the vet today for another check and X-ray .
X ray didn't show anything really but her mandible is swallon so the vet said I can refer you to Swindon for a ct scan. Now hang on dejavu!?
Both vets on duty today had a look and think it could be some nerve damage there.
Plan is to continue with mashed food and all TLC that I got left and give it a little longer.
A ct scan comes in at £ 550.00 and I don't think the dog owners would be likely to pay this.
Not sure what it would help with though.
She is bright and happy in herself so much so the one vet ask do you really think she is in pain?
Yes I do! And if not than this may be down to the fact that she is getting metacam twice a day.
I know special painkillers for nerve pain are used in hoomins but unsure how this figures out with bunnies.
She is not eating any hay so I started her on fibre plex too. I'm puzzled and yes I feel guilty because this happend. Not sure what else I can do to help her.
Sorry this post just gets longer, sorry for rabbiting on

Oh sweetie, you have nothing too feel guilty about. She gets the best treatment from you and we are all behind you 100%. Wow £550 for a scan, that is an awful lot, please keep us updated.

Re: Vibes for D'Layla please after dog attack update 19.03
This just makes me so angry ... that those "beings" can allow their animals to riot on other peoples property and inflict such fear, injuries, pain and misery to a loved pet, they should be made to pay.
You must be a saint to not go all out to throw the book at them. I would have had the police there ASAP.
£550 is a lot of cash, but making them pay is one way of making them realise the extremity of what they have done and it may be make them be more responsible in future.
Those terriers work as a pack, and it could be a child next time; thankfully the law is starting to take more positive action against dangerous dogs ... and they are dangerous dogs!
I wish you and dear D'Layla all the best and hope she will be a happy Easter Bunny for her mum.

You have done nothing wrong hun, the fault is with the owners of the dogs which should have been on leads. Poor bunny, I hope you get it all sorted out but the bill has to be paid by them as it was their doing. Poor D Layla is going through this because of them not you.
You are brilliant with her and do everything for her.

Oh Claudia, my heart goes out to you. Such a rotten time you and the bunnies are having at the moment. I have no useful suggestions, I am guessing the vet(s) are 100% sure that there is not an abscess brewing somewhere.
Am sending loads of vibes and hugs down to you all xx

No Vanessa, that was my second thought. Abscess or fracture. It is not showing any of these. I guess its bad news as these could be easy to treat.
I'm worried on the long tem for the girl. She is a lop not eating hay that's calling for dental issues, plus the guts not coping. She isn't eating her c's either.
Bless her ! I'm running out of ideas what to do to support her.
But will give all I have.

No we are just continuing with the metacam. I currently give her 0.7 ml twice a day! She has lost a little bit of weight,no surprise, and comes to the scale with 2.18 kg.KatieB wrote:Oh Claudia I'm so sorry to hear that she isn't doing well. It seems to alternate as some times her mouth and face seem straighter then others.

Re: Vibes for D'Layla please after dog attack update 19.03
There was another post on HH recently about taking a rabbits Cs and mixing them with syringe food. Am I being unsympathetic or insensitive to ask if this might not be an idea to help D'Layla?
Anything to help keep her gut going.
Have those dog owners troubled themselves to enquire how she is?

Jyes they have asked how she is getting on, but not settled the vet bill yet. So might want to do a gentle German reminder. Get on with it .
I will try to mix her c's within her critical care which is the only thing she will eat without fail. Her poos were small earlier so a top up of metocloperamide will come her way too.
And you know what whilst I was feeding her one of the boys had managed to open the door to the other bedroom/ warren and the both of them went straight into fight mode.
I quickly separated them and no harm done to either of them.

Re: Vibes for D'Layla please after dog attack update 19.03
Oh Claudia, it never rains but it pours
I have consulted with a very knowledgeable bunny lady I know in case she had any ideas as to what is going on with D'Layla. Without me mentioning it she also came up with potential nerve damage from the bite. She also mentioned vertebrae or jaw damage but said that would be expected to be seen on an Xray.
I wish I could help more - still sending loads of vibes for you all xx

Yes, I said there could be nerve trauma and it's possible some element of PTS could be influencing her eating.
Are you a member of the RWAF? If so maybe thinking about a Richard Saunders consult is imminent.
And beware them paying vet bills until the FINAL one is delivered.

Re: Vibes for D'Layla please after dog attack update 19.03
My word, youre having a real tough time with those buns at the moment, but youre doing all that you can for them, and youre doing a great job!! Its not your fault, its the owners of those dogs. I agree, they should pay whatever is needed, but the likelihood of this happening...well...thats debatable, but they should still be paying a large portion of the final bill, if not, all of it!
I agree with Katie in that, perhaps something else is going on. What happened was no doubt extremely traumatic for her, which we all know can give other things an opportunity to raise their nasty heads.
Sending tons and tons of vibes for D.Layla, you and everybun in your warren! xxxxx

Re: Vibes for D'Layla please after dog attack update 19.03
Thanks folks,
We have started her on tramadol gave the first one last night and she ate half of her greens after their wre purred and with lots of encouragement from Vernon and myself. She is producing loads and loads of c's, which doesn't come as a suprsise as her main diet is pellets and cc, with no hay and onli little greens.
I have spoken to the vet today and we have agreed to refer her to the specialist vet in Swindon. I might phone Ros on Monday too.
Vernon is grooming her constantly on the ear and in her face.
I thought to put a picture on so that you all know what it looks like but wasn't sure whether this is appropriate.
I feel that the bill of £270.00 is the furthest I can claim on them. They are likely to suggest to pts if she doesn't eat and recover in this sense which is not what I'm planing to do. As long as she has got quality of life she will be with us. Really my hopes lie with a brilliant vet in Swindon called Fiona.
