MJ's eye :(

I thought I saw it the other day but wasn't sure, but today there is a very obvious cataract developing in his good eye so I suppose at this rate he'll be blind within a few days

Will call the vet on Monday and get him booked in, for a check up then I think it'll be a referral to the vet school for the surgery as I don't think my own vet do it. Hopefully his little world won't have to disappear for too long

Oh poor MJ . Sending vibes. Cataract in humans is easily treated. How will this be for bunnies. Please keep us posted.

Vibes for tomorrow. Is MJ insured?

Thanks guys, he is insured but the cataracts in his first eye appeared within the first 2 weeks of taking out the policy so won't be covered. The vet said at the time she thought it looked like there was the start of one in his other eye, but then the other vet that he usually sees said at a later appointment there was no sign of cataracts so I'm not sure if the 2nd eye will covered or not.

Just back from vet.

Good news is we had T checked as well when we were there and she's back up to 2.2kg and her mouth is still looking fine.

The vet tested MJs blood and the sugar levels seems to be high (the vets blood glucose tester is set for dogs & cats so she wasn't sure how reliable it would be), he's also lost 200g in weight since xmas (he was 2.2kg so 10% of his body weight) so we were getting a referral to the vet school anyway for the cataract surgery but now hes getting an ASAP appointment as there is a possibility he has diabetes. Hopefully our appointment will be next week.

I am so glad that T is OK bless him but I really hope MJ hasn't diabetes. Everything crossed here hun.

Hoping for the best for MJ.

Poor MJ, how high we're his blood sugar levels? At the conference we learnt that bunnies have a raised Levels when unwell I have to find the paperwork but seem to remember that diabetes is rare in bunnies.
