Re: MJ's eye :(
So the check up at the vets went well, they were very happy with his progress. He'll have another check up in 3 weeks either at the D1ck vet or the opthalmic surgeon in Edinburgh.
The journey home was pretty bad, we set off at about 1pm and our ETA was 7.15pm. The traffic was awful! It took us 5hrs to get half way (200miles), finally got home at 9.45pm. Let the buns out for a run about, what a difference in MJ since we left last saturday! Not quite up to full speed yet but he was having a good run about the place. AND! I had a bag of grass/herbs/dandelion leaves for the journey and there was some left, he was over rummaging in the bag and begging for food! Since he lost his eyesight his appetite has been so poor, he's been reluctant to eat and mostly needed to be persuaded to eat and generally wouldn't eat without T by his side, and even then it wasn't much. Now he is grabbing leaves out our hands and asking for more! I think its safe to say he is a much happier little bunny!

Re: MJ's eye :(
So, T is not allowed to groom his eyes which means they have to be seperated when they are shut away (we just put one of the spare panels in the middle of the pen so they can still see each other), but we are allowing them out together when we can supervise. Its hard keeping her from grooming his eyes, she is such a good wifey bun, it means when they are next to each other sitting on the floor beside them to make sure she doesn't groom his eyes. Shutting them away separated isn't very nice, MJ is visibly unhappy at being shut away and being separated from T

Re: MJ's eye :(
Not nice to part them, have you any idea how long before he will be healed enough for them to co-habit again?
It's good they can meet up like this though ... they're dating again.

Re: MJ's eye :(
T had her app yesterday for her blood test, it was a different vet from usual and he took her through the back to take the blood which I wasn't very happy about - I'd rather see what was going whenever possible on even if its not very pleasant especially if I don't know the vet. On reflection I should have said to do it in the room. She seemed ok afterwards though.
I'm currently not letting them out because its too difficult to always stop her grooming his eyes and I'd rather not be shouting at them and diving across the room every 5 minutes
MJ bit me earlier because I wasn't quick enough giving him some kale (not bit exactly, but he launches himself at the food with his mouth open, unfortunately often he gets fingers before he reaches the food), sure sign he's feeling like his old self

I thought the vet said at least a week, my OH reckons he said 2 weeks. So 2 weeks is probably a good bet, especially as she has had a few sneaky eye licks :\

Re: MJ's eye :(
Good news, I emailed the vet to check and they can now be let together again
T's blood test results came back at the weekend and she is also 'strongly positive' for EC long term exposure but no active infection. We had started her on panacur as well also anyway.
MJ has his eye check up at the D1ck vet on tuesday (1/9), the eye specialist as well as one of the exotics specialists will be there so i will have a chat to him about the EC treatment going forward as this is the 3rd time they've both been treated.

Re: MJ's eye :(
MJ had his check up at the D1ck vet yesterday, we saw Victoria Machlin the eye specialist and Kevin Eatwell the exotics specialist.
Victoria said his eyes were fine (she actually said the sutures were "beautiful"), the only small problem is his eye pressures were slightly high, so she will call the vet in London just to check and he might be put back on the Azopt eye drops, but he doesn't mind getting eye drops so thats ok.
She also checked T'd eyes and compared them with the drawing the vet in London done and says there does not appear to be any change in T's eyes either.
Kevin Eatwell did the surgery on T's mouth last year so he had a look in her mouth and said it is looking great (I do have it checked regularly at my own vet but given the opportunity its good to get a specialist opinion!), he did it would be worth if she is ever under anaesthetic or sedated for any reason to have an in depth mouth check up done at the same time but based on what he could see there was absolutely no reason to have it done for that sole reason.
