Diet Help? Empty Diet Help?

Post by Sneaks Sun May 17, 2015 11:12 am

Hi,

I have two buns buck (1.9kg) and doe (2.5kg)

I'm currently feeding unlimited hay, two handfuls of greens per day (kale, herbs etc..) and around 25g of pellets.

They are eating the pellets and greens almost instantly of late and eating a huge amount of ha.

Am I feeding them enough greens and pellets?

Thanks in advance!

Hi There!

A big welcome to HH! Feel free to join in the chat if you would like to x

You are absolutely feeding them exactly the right things and in the right amounts :-) The most important thing in their diet is hay :-)

What sort of bunnies do you have??

Agree with Katie. Sounds good regarding the amounts of noms they are getting. And size matters......

Thanks! I have a Dutch and Rex cross.

The pellets package says 50g but I felt it looked too much.

Our Rex is a new bond, we had another Dutch prior to that and that food mix seemed about right. Now we have a bigger bun I'm re-thinking the pellet amount scratch She's a big eater and almost a kilo heavier than the Dutch.

As the others have said - that sounds perfect Thumbs Up

They should be eating masses of hay - it is the most important part of their diet.

They're all brilliant at wolfing down pellets and veggies and perfecting the "I'm starving" look - don't worry! Laughing

we have two bunnies who [for various reasons] are on a hay/grass only diet so I'm also going to say hay is the most important. Most people only feed nuggies to make sure they are getting the vitamins they need so not many are needed.

haha the "I'm starving" look is new here, the new rabbit is a hungry bun!

The hay intake has gone crazy which I'm happy about! Thanks!

Ah thanks! I make sure they get plenty of hay, I was just worried about them not getting enough from the small quantity of nuggets.
