D'Layla update 20.01.16 Empty D'Layla update 20.01.16

Post by c.bolduan Tue Jun 16, 2015 9:04 am

Hi hoppers,
If there are any are vibes left with all the poorly buns that we have got at present, can you send them to us?
Whilst grooming Bubbles last night I witnessed D'Layla having a seizure.
I phoned the vet straight away and  she advised me to come in today.
She fittet twice more during the night.
Bubbles and Vernon seem ok.
Will let you know more when seen.

D'Layla update 20.01.16 Empty Re: D'Layla update 20.01.16

Post by KatieB Tue Jun 16, 2015 4:43 pm

oh bless her heart. Are you ok - its such a horrible thing to witness.

I really hope that this is something that they can easily fix.
As you know Annabelle has fits every once in a while. It seems to be every 4-6 months. Having said that - Im out at work all day so she could have had them more often and I dont know.
With Annie we think its down to her heart not pumping blood around her body as well as it should although she is doing quite well on the medication she has at the moment. Perhaps your vet might want to explore this as a cause if cant think they dont come up with anything else.

Sending her and you oodles of vibes x x x

D'Layla update 20.01.16 Empty D'Layla update

Post by c.bolduan Tue Jun 16, 2015 8:49 pm

This morning I took all three bunnies to the vet.
D'Layla was examined thouroughly and ears and eyes are not causing the fits. Teeth are ok!
Explained all the weird behaviour of her recently, ie falling down the stairs, eating cat food and so on.
We discussed the best or at least most reasonable way to go.
Plan is:
D'Layla to be swabbed into Bubbles part of the warren. Except of a two tier hutch with a solid step it's all on one level.otherwise I would worry about the risk of injury if she would fall.she had some diazepam rectally at the vet and he gave me another dose just in case. Phenobarbitone is on order at the whooping price of £140.00 a bottle and I'm glad she is injured.we decided to not take bloods as on ear isn't available after the dog attack and a test of EC would not really reflect anything. She is started on panecur for 28 days whilst Bubbles and Vernon will have a nine days course of the same.
Patrick offered a referral to specialised vet in Swindon. I want to give the panecur a try first if no improvement the referral will take place to have a scan in Swindon.
I'm searching to find out about combating EC. A few of the hutches and hides are bedded with towels which get waddled on. Will a 60 degree wash with a splash of bleach kill it?
Another thought? With her eating cat food could she be trying to vomit and fit because of this? She is pooing and Patrick checked her tummy. No impact found.
Yes Katie it is a disturbing thing to watch and she is such a sweetheart. We spend all night on the sofa cuddled up in blankets.the fits don't last long10 seconds the most.
If EC fails it could be Epilepsy and we would have to invest agate for a possible cause.
I'm basically no wiser but will give it all a go. She seems happy enough in herself when not actually fitting and again as long as she has life quality I'm will look afeter her and take care as good as I can.
Thanks for all the vibes they are most welcome and I will keep you posted as we go.

Just saw this. So sorry she's having this on top of all her troubles earlier. You don't think there is a link to the dog attack do you?
Fingers crossed all is very soon sorted out. She (and you) deserve a break.

Now Dee funny enough I mentioned it whilst at the vet. Cat and dogs can carry EC and surely it was stressful for her.
I dont know but she seems brighter tonight and so far no fits seen.

Spoken to the vet this morning.
Found her last night grinding teeth means out comes thee metacam and she seemed much more with it this morning.
No more seizures noted.
We have treated her with the homeopathic imprinter and I now got her energy in a little bottle on a stick so I don't need to touch it to treat her. Fancy bunny or what?
I'm glad you are all understanding and caring otherwise you would call me nuts!
Gave her some metocloperamide this morning as well as there were only a few poos inn her tray. She eats like she been starved for months. Now off with supper, see you all later:D

D'Layla update 20.01.16 Empty Update 19.06 rushed to exotic vet after prolonged fitting

Post by c.bolduan Sat Jun 20, 2015 2:08 am

D'Layla is in Swindon now, I just came back home.
The poor girl had a prolonged seizure this evening and dropped in and out of it so that I gave her Diazepam rectally and called our vet. Emergency referral made and I rushed her over. Vernon was very disturbed whilst she was fitting and despite taking him with us we decided not to leave him there.
I was busy all day deep cleaning and sanitising the warren including a bomb spray to kill anything that can cause an infection.the buns were out in their run and she seemed to have enjoyed the time.
Now awaiting blood results and likely ct scan head and neck.
I'm devastated . Will call the vet in the morning to see how she kept overnight.
