Rabbits and ants.
Henry has a pen which because of the weather and the presence of Power Board workers he hasn't yet been able to use. Now both obstacles seem to have gone and I want to let my boy enjoy the summer. The only thing holding me back is the amount of ants that have appeared since I got the pen sorted.
Does anyone know about the affect ants can have on rabbits? I hate to think of him sleeping (which he is really good at) and ants creeping all over him.
I also dread finding ants in his fur and having to deal with them. I am allergic to ant stings/wee since a bad experience with them which resulted in a severly stung bottom and a week off work because of the pain.
Any ideas/suggestions/experiences?

My mum and dad's garden has always had lots of ants. Whenever Thumper was about they'd run in the opposite direction. Quickly.

These are red ants. I know they are savage as they are the ones that got me. I'd hate Henners to sit on ants like I did.

Re: Rabbits and ants.
Little monsters. I know I may sound daft worrying like this but when I had the other buns there were no ants on my lawns. Loll was not a bun who was happy in a pen and he hated outdoors so I don't know exactly when these beasties moved in. All I know is after having had "a romantic interlude" interupted by being on an ants nest and having a trip to A&E where a Dr and nurse took delight in counting the stings on my nether regions I look upon this infestation with fear. (The Dr and nurse lost count after some 500+ bites when they couldn't distinguish individual bites because there was just one red mass.)
I can't bear to think of anything so horendous happening to my lovely boy.

Oh sweetie, the only thing I can think of is try and find something to kill the ants which won't hurt bunny, a tall order I know. Please keep us updated.
