Life with bunnies
I think this mornings events describe life with bunnies quite well.
So our sofa is about 6" out from the wall, its got very small legs so nothing fits underneath. Half of behind the sofa is taken up by a radiator, so you can only reach behind the end without the radiator. At one end its blocked off with some c&c panels and there is some spare cushions behind them, the other end has a wine rack (solid box type) next to it. So these stop bunnies gaining access to behind the sofa as there is cables back there.
This morning MJ fell behind the sofa, he likes to climb about on the back of the sofa so this happen from time to time. Usually we just lift him back up. This time he ran towards the wine rack end (where the radiator is) before I could get him so I just moved the wine rack so he could get out then I put it back. He was then annoyed that he couldn't retrace his steps and get back behind the sofa via the wine rack end. So I ignored him/told him off when he was chewing it.
Next thing I hear a noise behind me, look behind the sofa and there are 2 bunnies down there. I hadn't pushed the wine rack far back enough against the wall and they had squeezed in. It took about ten mins to get them out because everytime I removed one the other one would run back in. Eventually got them both out and pushed the wine rack back. Both bunnies spent some time being annoyed at not being able to get back.
MJ started trying the gap between the wine rack and the sofa, I watched him. After a few minutes he just squeezed right on through. I measured the gap. 3". He ran right to the other end so I was able to lift him out. Moved the wine rack closer to the sofa.
5 mins later I hear a racket from the other end of the sofa. MJ has jumped over the C&C panels into the stuff piled up behind them. Lift him out and build a wall of cushions.
Finally, bunnies can't get behind the sofa.
MJ has spent much time since walking along the back of the sofa wondering if he can jump down, and running/jumping very fast up onto the sofa as if he thinks if he runs at it fast enough he'll manage to get down.

Re: Life with bunnies
This has really made me laugh this morning!
Esp the one of them wedged behind there! They cannot possibly be comfortable behind there - so is it worth it????
The answer I suspect is yes, because life is so much better when you are doing something naughty!!

Asked why he went behind the sofa MJ replied, "Because it was there!"

Re: Life with bunnies
2 weeks later and MJ finally made it behind the sofa again (there was much determination and bunstruction in the interim, our sofa now has a new hole at the top). He found a crack in the pillow wall and went through it
Once he got back there he didn't know what to do. He sat there, moved a few cables about, ripped a bit of paper he found. That was it! I eventually chased him out. So HOPEFULLY he'll give up now that he finally got his way.
