Henry had another "Turn" tonight
He had gone into his tray and done a big wee and then decided to have a nap ... not something he does unless feeling low. He flopped on his right side and went to sleep.
Now, unfortunately, I fell asleep too and so I missed the start of it but I woke to him scrabbling upright in the tray looking decidedly groggy and not with it. That lasted maybe ten or twenty seconds then he settled down but his little nose was twitching fast to show he was breathing fast. He wasn't breathing through his mouth (which was good). He wasn't freaked out by it and once his breathing steadied he took another nap for ten minute and then hopped out for a feed.
I think it happened because he was lying on his right side. He was flopped on his right side when he had his first fit. I think it puts pressure on his heart lying on that side.
He's fine now.

Re: Henry had another "Turn" tonight
He was okay the rest of the night and is his usual self today ... very sleepy and quiet.
I know we don't have much longer but he is a real star and when things happen like last night it's so hard not to get stressed which is bad for both of us.

A quiet day, but it's been very hot here today. He's been eating well tonight and did a rather fine binky a few minutes ago.

Re: Henry had another "Turn" tonight
still life in the boy yet then bless him. Glad he is eating and binkying, both good signs that he isnt ready to leave just yet.
Re: Henry had another "Turn" tonight
Yes, he's eating still but not like he used to. Sometimes, when he's sleeping, he looks so very old. But the binkies are wonderful.

Re: Henry had another "Turn" tonight
Rogan: Henry is 5 but he has a terminal condition: an enlarged heart. Lying on his right side can cause extra strain on his heart which is already beating slower than it should. A slow heart beat means the blood supply to his body is slowed and that affect all his organs. Lying on his right side slows the blood more and affects his brain causing something like a fit but when he gets upright and the pressure is relieved he recovers quickly.
Jo: yes great to see. He was diagnosed on March 1st and the prognosis was weeks, maybe months. So he's doing very well. Last night he did a really great binky... not especially high or fancy but I saw it sort of build up.... he was sitting in front of me, looking straight at me and suddenly I saw him kinda tense and set himself like a runner getting set to run, Then it was like a ripple that shot down his body into his hind legs and he shot in the air like a cork out of a bottle. Very happy!

Re: Henry had another "Turn" tonight
He seems to be doing okay so far, though I know we are on borrowed time now. He as good days and not so good. But he's not suffering .... just sleeping a lot.

Re: Henry had another "Turn" tonight
Thanks Rogan. I've got over the initial shock/panic/distress of finding out what was wrong with him ... now we are enjoying each other... at least I'm enjoying him, I think he's enjoying me, he knocks hell out of my feet in or out of shoes!

Re: Henry had another "Turn" tonight
Thanks Jo (and all). It's not too hard coping when you have a bun like Henners. He is the greatest.
This morning, to save my slippers and enable me to get some jobs done, I gave him a BIG grass ball that cost a £5 (give or take a penny or two) and he destroyed it in just under five minutes.... By that reckoning he costs a £1 a minute to entertain! But he has another four balls waiting in his cupboard.

Re: Henry had another "Turn" tonight
Too true Rogan. But my boy hasn't got that long so if he wants to play, or destroy, I let him and rejoice. He was fighting my trainers tonight. I had put them down the side of my chair in the gap between it and my little side table which is a favourite run through for Henners and he was miffed to find them there. He gave them a right belting.

I am afraid Holly gets away with murder too, we just try and make sure there are plenty of things around which she can legally chew but sometimes, we get that totally destroyed illegal item.
