Minimum space for a few days?
Obviously I am aware of the recommendations from the RWAF and we adhere to them at home.
I am planning a few days away next month. 3 nights maximum. Molly and Junior will go and stay with my parents. Moving their pen and attached cage set up is like trying to move heaven and earth so I am considering borrowing/buying a dog crate for them for these few days.
What size would you be comfortable leaving them in for this few days? I am of the view that they have it good at home with their set up and daily run around time so these few days are not going to do them any harm. But would still like your thoughts on size please??

Re: Minimum space for a few days?
For two buns of their size I'd say a four foot crate. Henry had a four foot crate when I first got him and he had a four foot pen attached as well. It took up my dining room!
When he was cage confined over Xmas 2015 he was in a three foot crate I borrowed from his vet and that was designed to give him room to move but to prevent him over doing things.
His four foot crate had a shelf in it as well and that gave extra interest and exercise room.

Re: Minimum space for a few days?
I looked at dog crates instead of ferplast cages for height wise and I couldn't find ones that had length or width for them, that wasnt majorly over priced.
I can't see a few days doing any harm, when are you goin?
I'm planning on getting thundercracker a new cage you can borrow the two old ones put them together they work out long but for a few days should be sound. Used it as a temp den for soundwave and miranda they seemed happy with it.

Re: Minimum space for a few days?
Try to get crate from e bay if time allows. If it is for a few days only they will be fine on restricted space. Think if they would need to go to vet hospital they be Moore confined. Get some of their housing with them. Hides litter trays and toys. When are you going?

Re: Minimum space for a few days?
Thanks for your thoughts guys
I have decided to clean up their metal outdoor run and just use that. It is just short of 7ft long but is only 3ft wide. It is more than tall enough for them to stand up in though, so will do them for a few days.
I am certainly going to be sending them with their cube, toys etc
Not sure when exactly we are going but will be end of January/start of February. I wanted to make sure I had Molly and Junior sorted out before I booked anything

Re: Minimum space for a few days?
That sounds great Thumper hunni. I saw an advert for a bunny/piggy boarding house in one of the magazines and they have webcam so you can look at your little one whilst you are on holiday. I cannot remember which one it was but I thought it was a good idea.

Re: Minimum space for a few days?
They got on fine
They barely even came out of the run! Mum left the doors open when she was around but they weren't interested in socialising

We had a lovely break, thank you both. We spent a few nights in a lovely hotel in Aviemore The little guy was an absolute hoot! It was the first time he'd ever stayed in a hotel so everything had to be explored
Some of the things he comes out with make you want to curl up and die

Soundwave is having major behaviour issues, got an appointment with the vet. I don't mind cancelling for my baby boy. Going to try get to portmerrion for a long weekend when he back on track.
Did they have snow in aviemore when you went?
You have to post the curl up stuff

Re: Minimum space for a few days?
Aw no! I hope you can get to the bottom of it. Is he being badly behaved or oddly behaved?
Crazy sat-nav lady took us via the lecht on the way home and there was some snow there but mostly just rain in aviemore.
Haha I could write a book with stuff he comes out with! When I get a min I'll put some of it together in a thread in the members lounge He's so funny

Re: Minimum space for a few days?
I am sorry Gemma love, yes please do keep us posted, I want to know how he gets on and when you manage to calm him down. I remember a bunny like that being at one of the animal places I visited many moons ago and if offered food, he would growl and grunt, leap forward to get the treat, still grumping and go into a corner and eat it. I don't know what happened to hm but I remember him being a fairly small bun.
Good luck love, I hope he becomes a sweet and loving bun.
Hugs
