Angry Empty Angry

When thundercracker came home he hasnt been given enough medication to see him through how ling he is supposed to be on it for ( not why i am angry)
So i phone my own vet and say to them he on 1.2ml of metacam and I need some more, which they say is no problem. So i go to my vet to pick it up and the actual vet says to make it easier for me with dosage she worked it out for the metacam syringe saves me syringeing it from thw kg one to the mls one and it 8kg I give him. So sat night and both times on sunday I give him 8kg on the syringe.
I have syringe toppers so I can prepare monday mornings the night before but they dont fit the metacam syringes, so I measure out 8kg and syringe it into the ml syringe only to find out it is less a lots less than 1.2mls as in less than half of 1.2mls.
I phone Edinburgh and the vet there confirms 1.2mls is equal to 18kg on the metacam syringe. So i had to make up tonight dosage which put thundercracker under more stress. No wonder he not been right today he must have been in pain.
I have also emailed my vets a massive complaint. I do plan to still use them but only for the vacs as i have already paid for the vacs for life but that is all and I have told them that.

How much does he weigh?! 18kg sounds like a hell of a lot to get!

Junior is circa 2.4kg and he gets 8.1kg. And I was told Sparky’s hoomin that is a decent doze.

Sorry if you don’t know who Sparky’s hoomin is. She used to be here, can’t remember if she was still here when you joined.

He weighs about 3kg and the vet school did say his dose was higher than normal because of the extent of the op.

I dont recall a rabbit named sparky, sorry.

I'm hopeless with conversions and weights and measures. I used get the vet to show me where to fill the syringe to. And I always took the stupid nozzle thingy off the bottle so it was open necked..... so much easier to draw off a dose, no faffing with fitting syringes.
Reboot weighed 2.94 and was prescribed 1mil Loxicom twice daily at the end.

Same here woodwench thats why I didnt think twice about it when she said to just use the metacam syringe and give him to the 8kg mark.
I spoke to edinburgh again and they say 8kg is the usual dosage for a rabbit thundercracker size and they think she has not listened to the dosage properly.
We will see if they reply to apologise, thats all I want.

Vets phoned and appologised and they are going to speak with edinburgh about getting something in place so they can get the reports quicker for their patients, to stop this happening again.
The actual vet that done it also phoned and gave an appology.
And explained what happened.

Got my appology and their putting measures in place to ensure not happen again.
Also got a wee compliment of how good of bunny parent I am and how much I am on the ball with thundercracker

Flattery does work

Glad you got it sorted. Little glitches can cause big problems at times. I hope things run smoothly now.
