So Angry.....and upset
My husband took Seb to the vet today to have his annual injections arranged by me. I am so angry and disgusted with the care he received at the vets. I was assured they are experienced with rabbits etc.. The vet removed him from the carrier by his EARS... unbelievable.. I feel upset as I arranged it. My husband had to have strong words with the vet for his handling of the rabbit...he couldn't believe it.. I feel sad. Seb will never set foot in that place again. I will be looking for a vet I can trust... I feel guilty. I am also worried about how Seb will be with us now after being such a loving friendly boy

What the hell?! Omg! I can't believe a vet did that
Has anyone here asked what area you are in? Maybe someone could recommend a vet.

Re: So Angry.....and upset
I cannot believe it. I told my daughter who couldn't believe it. My daughter at 10 years old knows how to handle a rabbit.. HOW CAN A VET DO THIS. I will be writing a strongly worded letter and sending a leaflet from the RWAF about safely handling a rabbit. I still feel upset and let down. We have tried our very best to do everything correctly for our much loved pet.... and I feel like I've failed today. I only hope Seb will trust us again

Despicable doesn't cover it, whatever was that moron thinking? I am sure you will find a good vet love who would never dream of doing this. What dd he say when you reprimanded him?

Re: So Angry.....and upset
Please forward the vet details to RWAF and let them deal with this.
Unexaptable! Yes write a complain letter and make your voice herd. I hope Seb is not giving you a hard time. Bunnies are clever and it wasn't you that picked him up in such a way.
I'm just speechless about so much ignorance from a vet! Yes angry, yes rightly so!

Re: So Angry.....and upset
He was extremely apologetic.... but its unacceptable.. I was in bits when my husband told me what had gone on. I shall forward details to RWAf.. I'm still so angry. On a brighter note, using the links from this forum to the RVCS, I think I have found a good Vets Practice registered with them for small animals. I will be phoning them tomorrow and asking about neutering and care for rabbits Its actually a vets I had considered before.... I should of gone with my gut instinct.

I guess its a lesson learned. Seb was initially very timid on his return but seems to be bouncing around again now.

Re: So Angry.....and upset
How disgusting!!
I am glad Seb is ok again now. You'd be surprised how much they know. Whenever I take my Willow to the vets (she's quite a regular there, bless her!), she is not happy at all for the vets to go near her and grunts in disgust. She then hops over the table to me for strokes and nose rubs and it calms her right down. They know who you are, and Seb knows it wasn't you who did that to him!
I hope your new vet is much better. Sending hugs to you and your daughter, and nose rubs to little Seb xxxx

Re: So Angry.....and upset
That's just awful. As Katie said if you give us a rough idea where you are someone may be able to recommend a vet. Sometimes it is as personal as giving an actual named vet at a practice as there is such different levels of understanding even within one practice.

Goodness me! I am shocked beyond words! How many people have gone home from there and continued to pick their buns up by the ears after being shown this by a vet!
Good for you for having a word! I think a letter of complaint is Deffo in order and also inform Rwaf - in the hope nopre bunnies will have to go through this!
I'm sure the little guy will forgive you - he will know it wasn't you that did this.

Re: So Angry.....and upset
Something must be done.. this so called professional certainly needs more training and educating. My daughter is planning on writing a hand written letter to accompany my letter. My husband did tell the vet how a rabbit must be handled (shocking) , so hopefully no other rabbit will go through this. I think seb will feel better about it all quicker than I will

Re: So Angry.....and upset
I have just spoken to RWAF for a different reason as supreme had posted an ad. With an unsuitable photo. I told her about your experience. If you want contact them with the vet details they will follow it up. A vet she suggested that might be close enough to you:
Broadland House. Postcode NR 12
Phone. 01692 580171
Ask for Hilary or Mathlyn.

Re: So Angry.....and upset
That is terrible and they should know better, if that was one of my rabbits I would be reporting them.

Re: So Angry.....and upset
I agree, the fact that he was apologetic doesn't change a thing, it is disgusting and as you say, others will copy him and think that is the right way to pick up a bunny. Good luck with the vet search love, let us know how you get on.
