Thank you Rafiki and Jane. Jane I appreciate you standing up for what you believe in there. Of course I can't let her go now that the vet has said there is such a great chance of her surviving but I do not want her to suffer so am keeping my eyes and ears open for new developments

Rafiki I appreciate that you've spotted the fighter in Jack Smile

How is Jack doing now?

I personally would not give up, shes certainly fighting so I would give her as chance. Shes a tough little bun to have come this far.

Sending lots of speedy recovery vibes for Jack. Smile

Wave good luck - i keep checking this to see of developments. i really feel for you guys. I think if it was me i wouldn't be thinking of 'survival' chances but of 'recovery' chances ie she may survive but is it fair for her to carry on long term if she is fighting for every breath - but at the same time I would want to give her enough chance of recovering but if she hadn't improved after X amount of time then accept that perhaps it is time to go to rainbow bridge. it is such a hard one to call and so so difficult for both of you so i really feel for you. anyway am rambling on now so going to do some work!

I understand what you are saying about her fighting but if 40% keeps her as she is, in that video, then that I feel would be totally unfair, she looks like she is really struggling bless her.
If she fights and gets better then I would carry on, if Jack was my bunny and she was not going to get any better than that then I would have to let her go. Crying or Very sad

Poor brave little Jack. What a horrendous time you and Helen must be having Charlotte.

Am I right in that she has had an episode like this before and recovered? If that is the case there is hope that she will recover from this.

If she is unlikely to recover though, hard as it is, it may be time to let her go. It must be so so difficult to make this decision when she is eating and moving around but try not to forget that rabbits may often appear to be not giving up until there is no hope at all. Rabbits are so good at masking illness.

Am thinking of you all and sending loads of vibes to Jack xxxxx

Yeah she had an episode like this before and pulled through. Helen and I are both aware that a decision may be necessary in time but we don't think it is yet and neither did the second vet and he was the head of his practice. The other vet is relatively new to bunnies, no disrespect to her. Believe me if I feel this bunny has had anough both Helen and I will let her go xxxxxxx

I agree. With the exception that Calli was suffering from paralysis at the same time Jack is actually making more of an effort to breath in that video than she was shortly before she died....her whole body was not shaking like that and though she was gasping there was no sound audible like I could hear on the film.

I think if she was my rabbit I would be giving her 48 hours at most to show some improvement otherwise, and those that know what happened with Caspian will know how hard it is for me to consider this, I would take her to be PTS. Being unable to breath is one of the most frightening sensations you can experience and to be in such a state of fear and pain for a prolonged period of time is just unthinkable.

I'm so sorry that this isn't what you want to hear guys Crying or Very sad

that is just how I feel Sooz.

Trust me we are not looking at survival chances here. If she is going to be like that for any prolonged length of time then there is no decision. She will have to be pts. But as long as there is a reasonable chance she will recover I just can't justify putting her to sleep when she is still fighting so bravely.

This is the most awful time and Mr B and I are on a rollercoaster over here, as I'm sure Charlotte is over there. Just as we think that things are so bad the decision needs to be made she perks up enough to reverse the decision.

How is she now Charl?

Such a sad situation but have to say i agree with those that are saying a decision should be made soon.
The video shows a rabbit who is suffering..struggling to get breath..
again sorry to seem negative but the video is quite upsetting.
My thoughts are with you Helen being so far away..and Charlotte having to deal with this xx

I think she is the same. I agree guys, if this 40% chance doesn't seem to materialise soon, then she will have to be PTS. The laast thing Helen and I want to do is let her suffer. She is drinking at mo.

morning. when wobbles was having those hideous fits he was still washing and eating loads and everything in the small gaps in between - and i think he would have carried on doing that indefinitely - but the fits were so awful that it was just not fair to let him carry on even though he was a fighter and not just sitting there miserably but there was no cure and i think that is where you are with Jack - like she will carry on drinking and eating and zooming about but you can't let her go on much longer with that breathing problem and fighting for breath. Am just saying this to be helpful/a comfort when making a hard decision and i hope it comes across as that. When i had to make a decision about Wobbles it was so awful and it is making me cry just typing about it now a year and a bit later and it still troubles me with the 'what ifs' but when i look back i know as much as he and I both wanted him to get better and carry on - i had to let him go, for him.

rachel that brought a tear to my eye.

we have an appointment Friday with the nice vet she saw yesterday. I think unless things change for the worst we will keep that appointment and see what he thinks her chances of getting better are.

We may well have a hard decision to make tomorrow as I just can't bare to give up on her when she's fighting so hard against this but, as people have said, if this will be her life indefinitely then that can't happen.

It's just such a gut wrenching situation to be in as this little girl has fought through so much and retained such a wonderful character and spirit. I can't bare to kill her after all that Sad
