URGENT advice needed on Buscopan UPDATE :)
Just rushed Teasal to vets with gassy upper stomach - he would not eat his evening meal. They x-rayed and have given liquids and buscopan - why buscopan??? Why not metaclopromide? I was too panicked to ask (and its not my normal vet - though it is a very good vet - but not one I am confident in 'chatting' to). I thought Buscopan was no good if they had gut stassis - or perhaps the upper stomack gas doesn't mean gut stassis???? Is Buscopan for blockages???? HELP They have kept him in and I am panic stricken.

Re: URGENT advice needed on Buscopan UPDATE :)
Buscopan helps relax the lower gut, if it was spasming. Whereas metaclopramide stimulates things I thnk. Evo had it in the past, during the time when Propulsid started to be phased out. Seemed to help him.
Lots of vibes for Teasel.

Update
Thanks for all the help! Teasals great today!! Yesterday evening the vet let him come home - but he was still gassy. We chased him round the patio a bit, then sat him on our knee on a hot water bottle (wrapped) and massaged him. Suddenly there was a gurgley noise and he sat up and looked like himself again!! Magic!! Then he started scoffing!!!
They have examined him to day and said no gas - but gut a little slow - so now on maxolon for a few days.
Trouble is we don't know WHY it happened!! have had him 8 years and never had bloat before.
PS He looks JUST like Evo!

Re: URGENT advice needed on Buscopan UPDATE :)
I think sometimes these things do just seem to come on for no identifiable reason, it's when it happens a few times you know there is something seriously amiss.
I hope he continues on his way to a rapid & full recovery.
