Charlie Has Lost Weight This Winter
Has anyone else experienced this with buns? I think perhaps he needs a vet check. He is fine in every other way and eats like a horse. He is up to date with his panacur, but just seems to have dropped weight since it has been cold. There is always an unlilmited supply of food. I am gonna start him on some porridge and see how he goes. Any other ideas?
Re: Charlie Has Lost Weight This Winter
2 of mine who were fine through the summer have dropped condition over the winter, Marley, who has never ailed a day in his life, has to the extent I have had to cut him from his group and bring him inside.
His teeth are fine and I've started Panacur just incase but he has no other symptoms at all and is eating like a horse.
I'm wondering if he just wasn't getting his share of the food in the trio. I'm hoping Fiver will ut on weight now he only has one other rabbit to compete with as well.

Bri is a porker and a greedy porker to boot. They are in at the minute though and have been really able to monitor what Charlie is eating and he is a little piggy himself. I hope he porks back up come spring.

Funny, I was thinking Rory was feeling a little lighter than usual but Im not too worried as he is eating well and otherwise seems to be fine.

Mine look like they are a bigger, but I think it is fur as their coats are incredibly thick.

Re: Charlie Has Lost Weight This Winter
I just think that Charlie is a delicate bun, he isn't a hardy rabbit. He is a little boy too. Maybe he just isn't cut out for winter. Thinkn he might have to just spend the rest indoors now,.
Re: Charlie Has Lost Weight This Winter
He's the right colour for winter.. But we have always had them inside over winter. Nothing intentional, it's just the way it worked out really.
He normally eats his fair share (unlike Bri the fat git :luv:). I would guess either Science Recovery (although I doubt it's at that stage) or porridge which you are doing.
Maybe he's just wondering when his wifey bun is coming home

I don't get close enough to my fluffy girl to squish her. I might, if I am very lucky, get to stroke her nose!

Re: Charlie Has Lost Weight This Winter
Well he has put on a little bit of weight since he has been living indoors. I think it was just the problem of keeping warm out there in the cold. He is such a happy boy now he is in. Bless him. Bri wasn't impressed at having to be in but since I brought them a proper indoor cage in, to have their litter tray and food in, he has gone all over excited and dizzy!
