Aww it's so cute!!
Will it let you get near to clean the eye? It's hard to know what to do really...

Re: Wild Baby U/D Pics p.3 & 6
Its just so terrified and I don't want it to have a heart attack or die of fright. Apart from his/her eye the bun seems fine.
Re: Wild Baby U/D Pics p.3 & 6
Best advice I can offer is don't feed the wee one anything it wouldn't eat in the wild and add probiotics to the water. As baby wildies are usually weaned at 3-4 weeks this little one should not need any milk supplements.
Good Luck

Re: Wild Baby U/D Pics p.3 & 6
Thanks hun. I am just picking grass and giving stuff my mum had in her allotment, weeds and the like. Gonna clean its eye in a bit. So scared. I think once that is done, little Easter should be released back to the wild. I would guess it is about 12 weeks old.
Re: Wild Baby U/D Pics p.3 & 6
I think that sounds like an excellent plan. I'm sure the longer you keep him/her the more stressed s/he will get!

Good luck with Easter!
Can I just ask though - coming with no experience of putting animals back into the wild - Easter would have lost its family/warren... how will he/she cope alone in the wild? Will she find another warren and join that one, or be alone, or what?
Am keeping very strong vibes for Easter, thanks for posting pics! He's a beauty.

Re: Wild Baby U/D Pics p.3 & 6
You'll need to release him pretty much where he came from if you know, especially if he is actually a he, as he may end up in somebun elses territory during the worst possible season otherwise.
Re: Wild Baby U/D Pics p.3 & 6
Well that is the bit I am worried about, will Easter have a problem reintegrating? Anyone know?
Re: Wild Baby U/D Pics p.3 & 6
I am so stressed about what to do? We don't know exactly where he came from as the cat brought him in.
Re: Wild Baby U/D Pics p.3 & 6
oh sorry Charlotte hon I didnt mean to worry you even more I was just thinking along the lines of what Sooz said that if its a boy he might struggle to get accepted in a new warren. I have to go for a bit but I will pop back ASAP.

Re: Wild Baby U/D Pics p.3 & 6
Oh don't worry Erin haha. Well Easter has had her eyes cleaned. She was terrified but ok. I say she as I have had a look and I do think we have a little lady on our hands :luv:
Re: Wild Baby U/D Pics p.3 & 6
hmm don't think Charlotte can do the release method suggested in that article and is different to the one Dorset Wildlife Rescue told me which was to take a baby bunny to a warren and put it down a hole as far as you can reach. But NEVER to do this with an adult as it will get savaged - babies are normally ignored more. to be honest this method makes me a bit nervous too - have done it with 1 baby bunny. i guess there is no easy way to do it. she looks very sweet.
look at the first/top pic of wobbles - looks bit like him!

Oh gosh, I hope baby bun will be ok, you're doing a great job. I don't have any advice I'm afraid but good luck, whatever you decide to do.
Wow, I've never read Wobbles' story - that's amazing. What a spirited little bun. Such a shame you lost him.racheld69 wrote:

Re: Wild Baby U/D Pics p.3 & 6
oh I did not know Wobbles' story. What an amazing story and beautiful little life. xx
Charlotte I can imagine you are pretty confused right now. Lets think about this rationally, the way I see it you have 3 options.
Keep Easter
Release Easter in some thought out way
Give Easter to someone or a rescue
Can you think of the pros and cons and possibilities for all of them?

Re: Wild Baby U/D Pics p.3 & 6
I shouldnt say this - and really do not hold me to it - I just thought of it. If Easter is a girl I could consider having her but I could not have another boy in my warren, and Matthew would have to be ok with it and I am not sure he would as we have so many animals as it is.
Just keep your options open while you think it through and she recovers. We will help you through it together.

Re: Wild Baby U/D Pics p.3 & 6
Thanks guys, I have just had a good chat to Rachel on msn. I am going to go to the village that Easter came from to see if I can find a safe warren. The only warrens I know of are up at my horse and I know that they are all myxi ridden at the moment. Its awful. So if I find a warren I could perhaps then release her. But it needs to be done carefully, otherwise she is just going to be kicked out by the other buns. Argh.

Re: Wild Baby U/D Pics p.3 & 6
I think releasing her is the best idea. Wildies as a rule don't seem to be happy as pets... Obviously there are exceptions, gorgeous Wobbles being one of them...
I hope Easter is perkier today hon.

Rachel - I never knew about Wobbles either, what a fantastic story.
Charlotte - good luck with Easter, it must be hard to know what to do for the best xx
