Honeypup Blood Test Good! pg 2
Some of you will know I lost my dear old Zoe last week at the grand age of 18 years
Well we have been looking at dog rescues but not fallen in love with one for ourselves yet
However at one rescue..which doesn't get the dogs to a vet, doesn't homecheck, vacs or neuter there was a very old cocker spaniel who desperately needed out..
she had played on my mind all night so today I went back with a friend, and for a tenner and no questions asked ..she was mine
She will be seeing my vet tomorrow then I will be looking for a home for her
Say hello to..guess the name!!......Honey
She has fleas..had poo in her coat..has small cysts on her face and neck and her eyes are a mess
but after a bit of a clean, some food and some flea spray..she has settled down nicely
She loves cuddles and knows some commands..

She is so gorgeous - I think she looks far too settled in to be rehomed

Well I have promised my family we would get another big dog..and strangely I've never been a fan of cockers..but she just played on my mind
However I do have someone already tentatviely interested and if it works out means she won't be going far..so watch this space

Oh bless her Jill, she is beautiful
I hope her new home works out, old dogs in rescues make me so sad, my heart bleeds for the ones that end up in our pound. The OH and I have decided we will always adopt older dogs rather than pups, although we won't be having anymore for a while.

Well Honey has eaten well and been trotting happily round the garden
She then took herself back indoors..rearranged the bedding in her basket into a large lump and fell fast asleep

Re: Honeypup Blood Test Good! pg 2
Bad news from the vets
To start list
She has a heart murmur
She has several cysts..one of which is rubbing her right eye and one on her shoulder is infected
She is deaf
She doesn't have much sight..her eyes have thickened surface which could be from her twisted eyelid constantly rubbing
She has a large lump on front of chest..although this may just be a fatty lump
She has two lumps on her mammory glands..and these are more worrying
She has fleas and very dry skin....
So she has had blood taken for testing and depending on results we will try to fix her up
So lots of vibes for this lovely old girl please
Honey is blissfully unaware of all this and has tucked into roast chicken and her tail does not stop wagging

Hope it turns out that the vet can help her without bankrupting you. It is so rewarding to give help to someone who would be left at the back of the room. You are so kind.

I'm sure whatever time that little lot has left her with is going to be among her happiest memories now she is safe and warm with you.

Re: Honeypup Blood Test Good! pg 2
my vet rang me last night to update me on blood test
and some good news..it was normal..apart from a slight change which you would expect with a dog of her age..so big relief as we can now think about operating
and yesterday's news hasn't stopped Honey being a mischief
She ate her dinner and lay in her basket...a few minutes later I heard my hubby laughing
He heard rustling and went to look and found Honey just backing out of the doggie cupboard with a whole pack of dog chews in her mouth which she proudly took out to the garden!

Re: Honeypup Blood Test Good! pg 2
well now for more bad news
To put all her probs right will cost in region of £875
So we are now waiting for results on her front large lump to see if that is a tumour or not..and then will make a plan..which will mainly consist of beans on toast for all meals for next 2 years!
But someone has offered her a home..so thats good!
