Question regarding feeding. Empty Question regarding feeding.

Post by Kate7590 Sat Jan 02, 2010 10:04 pm

I have recently changed my buns from a mix to a pellet, which im pleased about.
They are eating burgess excel at the moment but a friend recently told me its not a very good pellet, and may contain MEAT Shocked

So my question is what do others feed, pellet wise?

I want to get it sorted for my parents before I leave.
Iv heard Charnwoods pellets are very good, but wondered about the vitamin c thats added to them, does that matter?
Iv also heard of allen and page but again have never used them so dont know.

The only pellets we have here are D&H pellets, and my buns dont like them.

Science Selective is a feed alot of people use, but it is quite pricey. I use Allen and Page pellets x

I use Science Selective - if you order online you can often get it £5-£10 cheaper then in the stores, I've found every bun I've had loves it, and it seems to have a good effect on my bunnies with sensitive tums.

I used to use Allen and Page, but have had to switch becuase it was too hard for Noisette to eat when she had dental problems. I've switched to 3 pellets actually... Excel juniour, Excel, and Russell Rabbit. Totally to benefit Noisette whos got an abcess and is prone to losing weight... but Oscar goes along with the flow and eats it too Laughing

I started with Excel, but it gave him runny poos a couple of times a week, and changed to SS after asking the same question you have! I'm very confident that it's the best food for Bertie, and he loves it. There will always be buns who take to 1 food over another though, so the best of intentions may not come to fruition, but persevere.

I recently met the bunny nutrionist who formulated the bunny range of foods for Supreme. The only thing that is different than how she intended them (SS pellets) to be was the shape of the pellets. They are meant to be like spaghetti, as this shape is in keeping with hay & grass.

Just been up the street and pet shop has them in 10kg for £21.99!!! :O:O:O
On the other hand my local horse feed store has in D+H rabbit pellets 20kg for £9.99.
I used to use d&h for mixing with other foods and they used to leave the pellets, probably coz they liked the mix more...but thought id give it a try again, if they dont like it, can always get something else.

Also ordered some barley rings, they should enjoy these Very Happy
