Digging.. I can't get any sleep!
Freya has taken to digging like a crazy lady all night.. I started putting off thier veggie time everyday 'till just before bedtime so she would eat and not dig.. This worked for a little while but now she's decided digging is better than food!
Last night she was so bad I am ashamed to admit I put her in my bathroom unsuoervised so I could get some sleep! I woke up on the morning to find a whole load of wallpaper on my bathroom floor...
Does anyone have any experience of this? If so is there anything I can do to stop her urges to dig? Or anything I can do for her cage to make her dig quietly!
Thanks
Vivi

Some people use a digging box. A large cardboard box or a carrier with a front door opening, filled with hay. Might help.

I use a dig box as Bluey is a dig monster
Although I will say it hasn't stopped the noise, as he also loves stripping bits of cardboard off

Has Freya been spayed? I've heard that unsayed females have been known to be big diggers.
You could try giving her a treat ball with some pellets to distract her and entertain her?

Yes she's been spayed, and she has toys in her cage she just ignores them - She ignores everything for her love of digging!
Its quite a recent thing with her, she has always liked to dig, but not so obsessively as she has been lately!

You know what, it's because it is coming up to Spring. I just remembered that was when Holly (who was spayed) embarked on her marathon burrow build (it ended up being 8ft deep). She didn't seem to do it all the time, it just seemed to spark off in Spring. It might be temporary.

Well I will ask my mother to pick up a load of boxes from work, hopefully to dull the sound.. And hope when Spring is over she goes back to her normal quiet self!
Thanks for the replies! Ill let you know how I get on with her!
