Molly has a sore eye
Molly, one of my outdoor buns, has a sore eye. It was partly closed this morning with a white discharge. She only picked at her breakfast too. I 'phoned my vet but they close at 11.00 am and I work until 11.30 am so couldn't make an appointment until first thing Monday. I then 'phoned another vet and have Molly booked in for 3.00 pm today.
However, she is now eating again and I did wonder whether I could leave her until Monday as the other vet is twice the price of my vet for a consulation and I much prefer my own vet.
Bunnies go downhill so quickly I do worry but she seems fine now. I wonder if she has caught a cold, although they do have two snugglesafes in their hutch before I go to bed.
I will probably take her this afternoon just for peace of mind. She isn't a dental bun - or never has been so far and I've had her a couple of years at least. I just hope she is going to be OK. I always worry about myxi if the eyes are sore and she has had myxi before about 18 months ago. She is up-to-date with her vaccinations but I know they can still catch it.
So, vibes please for my lovely Molly bun if anyone has any to spare?

Re: Molly has a sore eye
Oh dear, I hope her eye will be OK - sending lots of vibes for her.
I hope you get on OK at the vet this afternoon if you decide to take her. It's good that she started eating again. It's tricky to know what to do sometimes - have done the same thing myself, panicked and gone to the vet, then by the time I'm there, all is well again!

Re: Molly has a sore eye
I've just got back with Molly. She has conjunctivitis. The consultation is double what my own vet charges and that, with the eye drops she needs, cost £45. I think I am spending May's salary now!! She has the same eye drops I have been given for myself but I was assured by the vet Molly has been given human drops rather than me being given bunny drops - which was a relief!!
But, it isn't myxi, and she should be fine which is the main thing. I was worried if I left it and she got worst tomorrow I would be panicking trying to find a vet to take her to, it would be more stressful for her and end up costing me even more.
She was incredibly good and brave. Just sat there and let the vet put dye in her eye and look into it with three different instruments. I've bought her some dandelion delight as a treat but she isn't interested at the moment. She is busy telling Munchkin and Dylan about her adventure and explaining to them why she has a yellow eye!!!
Thanks for the vibes. I'm glad I took her, although I could have left it, but you never know with buns and I didn't want to take the risk.
Am a very relieved Bunny Mummy.

Re: Molly has a sore eye
She's doing brilliantly now and is really good with having her eye drops - just lets me pop them in.
I am sooooo relieved that she doesn't have myxi again. She is bouncing, munching and snuggling up to Dylan and Munchkin as usual. Our bunny families certainly like to keep us Bun Mums and Dads on our toes!!!

Re: Molly has a sore eye
Her eye looks absoutely fine now but I am going to continue with the drops for the ten days as the vet said to. Her other eye is fine and none of the other buns seem to have caught it which is a relief.
I can't get over how good she is when I put the drops in. I thought I may struggle being on my own but she is a real angel. She gets big nose rubs and kisses afterwards and told what a wonderful, clever, girlie she is. My neighbours must have a good laugh as they can hear every word I say

Re: Molly has a sore eye
My neighbours must think I am nuts, all the stuff I say to the buns and the different voices I do. I am always telling them I love them and how beautiful they are too. Ah well, who care what the neighbours think. I should think my choice of outfit in the garden sometimes, is more of a talking point!
So glad that Molly is ok! What a relief ey!

I'm the same with the buns. Mostly Felix because he just loves attention. He comes over now if you put you hand out and waits for you to stroke him. Wee soul.
Glad that Molly is feeling better. It must be so nice when you put the drops in. Bet it feels nice after being gritty and sore.
