Sore Hock Help!
When I was watching Holly this morning I noticed that she had skin showing on her feet like her fur had sort of worn away. I instantly thought it was a sore hock but I'm not sure as I haven't had a proper look Holly hasn't been picked up/cuddled for about a year as she doesn't really like it so I have no idea how she will react to me turning her over to take a look (I'll probably have no hand left afterwards).
Anyway if it is a sore hock what surfaces will aggrivate it? (and which surfaces could of caused it?) and I know she'll probably need the vet but is there anything else I can do? And have you got any tips on how I can pick up a terrotorial bunny which hasn't been handled for ages?
I'm really worried about her, she's a tough bunny and hasn't had a health problem for about a year or two
Thanks and sorry about the amount of questions

Re: Sore Hock Help!
Tough one. I would imagine that if you do manage to flip her over, as long as she is secure she should stay put while you have a look. I know carpet/abrasive surfaces are supposed to aggravate hocks... I know Jane recommends cotton for hers (well, her bunnies' not her own hocks ) so maybe you have an old duvet cover lying around she can have?
Is she overweight? This can also put undue pressure on hocks.
Obviously vets would be the main advice as they will be able to handle her and have a proper look for you but hopefully it's nothing.
Vibes for her footsies!

Re: Sore Hock Help!
Thanks for the help.
I have turned her over and the skin is sore but not broken yet. In her shed she has carpet, bare wood and vet bed (which is where she spends most of her time) but her run is bare concrete (she spends alot of time out there aswell)
She isn't overweight, she's a very light bunny and always has been. I'll ask my mum later if she has any duvet covers Holly can have.
Thanks again,
Bethx
