The Magic About a Wildie
Tonight Easter had her myxi booster and a health check and as you know I see very little of Easter and do hands off care with her most of the time, apart from her teeth. The thing is it makes those moments with her all the more magical. She is always terrified and it makes me try to reassure her even more. It brings out this over whelming urge in me to comfort her, which I know won't happpen. However those moments we share are magical as I look at her and she is breathtaking. They are so 'different' from domestic buns. She is indescribably beautiful. You would never normally get to see a wildie so close up.
The vet is always pleased with her, She said it is so unusual for a wild bunny to have dental problems let alone such a deformed jaw. Despite that she is a fantastic weight and very healthy, apart from the scarred lower eyelid from the original cat attack that brought her top me.
Just a little nod to my beautiful Easter bunny

Re: The Magic About a Wildie
I have tried really hard to get a pic of her today but she was hiding her face. Think I am gonna have to get hold of her and get Dame to take it. Next week she is going to be bonded with Lily and Sandy
Re: The Magic About a Wildie
Bless her, I will be keeping everything crossed that the bonding will be an easy one.
I'd love to see a piccie too, Easter is so pretty

Oh how I love the wildies! Such a beautiful colour, I would love to see a photo too. I'm glad she is well inspite of her dental problems.

Re: The Magic About a Wildie
My brothers cat caught her as a baby and he brought her to me, not knowing what to do. She had a tear to her lower eyelid and developed an eye infection straight away. I rehabilitated her and took her for her myxi jab, to give her a fighting chance on release. My vet said that there was now way I could release her as she had a deformed jaw. Her lower jaw sits very proud of her upper jaw which means that her lower incisors grow up over her nose and her upper incisors grow into her tongue. He got me some clippers and showed me mow to cut her teeth, which have to be done on a 2 weekly basis. She lives with Brian at the moment which was only ever temporary measure. However mext week is going to be bonded with Lily and Sandy. I deal with her by using minimal contact as it distresses her. It is hard but there is no alternative.

Re: The Magic About a Wildie
Awwwwwww Rachel's wildie is incredible and not at all like Easter. He even escaped once as I was saying on another thread and came back home!
Re: The Magic About a Wildie
Rachel, those pictures are amazing
We do get wildies in our back garden fron time to time, but looking at them through binoculars does not really show the true beauty of them.

Re: The Magic About a Wildie
Juno is like Easter with the exception that she is fine around me, just no other people at all. I'll never forget pulling Easter out of your chimney in my PJ's.

Re: The Magic About a Wildie
What an amazing story, I am intrigued by her and the photos of Juno are enchanting. There are wild rabbits at the back of my local community farm, but they move so fast it is hard to see them properly. I am facinated by the wildies so seeing those photos of Juno was amazing, thanks for sharing!

Re: The Magic About a Wildie
Hi everyone!
I've been a member for a while but not actually posted as normally on another forum Those who used to be on there (or secretly still are!) will remember me as Suzynick (now Beatrix Potter!). Thought I would seach wildie as i know Rachel69 has one.
Your wildie sounds like mine Catswhiskas! I have Spudsey a hand reared wild bun who is now almost 4years old
There are some great photos on my facebook of her and her three brothers (all I sadly lost) from when they were still in their 'nest' actually a cardboard box and through to when Spudsey was fully grown.
I too hardly handle Spudsey...sometimes she does actually come up to me and give me a lick but its very rare!
Suzanne Jones on FB photo is of my black cat Alfie
