MJ & Philip update
Just a general update on the boys!
They're all settled in now in the new house, which is good.
MJ: The Ophthalmologist vet is happy with the pressures in his eyes so we are down to 6monthly apps rather than quarterly, eye crops to stay the same. He recently had a blood test as well for organ function and EC, so the IgG titre (long term exposure) is still high, but the IgM (active infection) shows that the infection is remaining dormant so we are not treating (this is with the agreement of the exotics vet at the D1ck vet). The organ function results were good, so no issues there. His weight, however, is still low. We have just to keep monitering it to ensure that it doesn't start creeping down even further.
Philip is fine, as with MJ still skinny but in more positive news I have been feeding him much more pellets and fresh picked grass and we've had no mucky bum problems It has taken us a long time to get to this! Unfortunately when we were on holiday I had them at the boarding, and the girl who usually runs it was on holiday the second week but it was still our best option. When we picked them up I noticed straight away that Philip smelled bad. On getting him home I found he had a ping pong ball sized ball of poo stuck to his bum, it was awful. I gave him a couple of days to try and clean himself but he didn't so I had to intervene which was very stressful for both Philip and me. I used an old towel but I had to try and break down the ball of poo first, so soaking his bum as long as he'd let me then trying to break it with my hands, it was solid. I also managed to break 2 of his nails as I was doing it in the utlity room and I had to go out to get something... when I went back in he was behind the door. His poor little toes were bleeding Anyway, I did eventually manage to get it off. and despite the ordeal he seemed none the worse for wear and took food from me straight away! We've not had any mucky bum problems since (touch wood) so I'm not sure what happened.. I think the other person was maybe feeding too much pellets :/ but also obviously not doing bum checks :/ I don't think it was laziness and it certainly wasn't intentional, just lack of understanding I think. But anyway, he's fine now and thats what matters.
So in summary: all good

Re: MJ & Philip update
Glad they are both holding their own. It's so good to have a positive report from the vet.
I remember dirty bums when I had my first rabbit, Clawed. She couldn't eat greens and was soon cured when I stopped feeding them. Mr Toast O'Riley used to have the same problem with greens but thank goodness I've not had to deal with a mucky bum in about 9 years. I swear Reboot could eat anything and it have no affect, he's a dustbin!
Reboot is becoming a wonderful companion bun. He has a terrific sense of humour and loves playing games. His training is coming along a pace now with him knowing 19 commands/phrases and he is very (for a rabbit) obedient. When I look back on his first weeks with me and all the yelling and despair it seems impossible that he is the same bun.

Re: MJ & Philip update
I am glad things are good now sweetie but I feel so sorry for him. They should have noticed and taken care of that when he was in the bunny hotel. Reboot sounds wonderful hunni, I would love to see him perform some of his tricks. I don't think I could ever train Holly, she is such a diva LOL!

Re: MJ & Philip update
Glad philip and Mj are doing well, fingers and paws crossed it continues.
Thats fab news about reboot, attempted to train thundercracker so startes eith him touching a training stick with his nose but he took it to literal, so he trained to touch the stick with his nose in the dark grey cage with the orange blanket over the top. Any other combination he just looks at you like your daft and i no longer have the grey cage and orange blanket lol.
Jetfire is the same jo, she is to bossy to be trained she does the training. She very sick just now will post in the infirmary the details.

Re: MJ & Philip update
Glad to hear the boys are doing good
Great news about MJ's eyes and the reduction is sticky poo!
I'm intrigued by you saying much more pellets. Usually I see people being told to ease up on them with sticky butts! Interesting and good to know! 🤔
Happy new home btw

Re: MJ & Philip update
Could it be the type of pellets.
What pellets do you feed him?
Was that the same as the boarding house?
