Might be getting 2 girls spayed
My 2 eldest buns, Charlie and Annie are bother nuetered/ spayed. Hazel and Opal arent but the last few days I have noticed a bit of Opals fur in their shed so wondered if they are starting to become a bit nippy with each other...will spaying them stop this?
Thing is if they are spayed I dont want to ruin the bond they have with Charlie & Annie so would really need to re-introduce them pretty soon wouldnt I?
What do you all suggest?

Re: Might be getting 2 girls spayed
Most girls will start to bicker between 4-6 months or at least this is what I have found in the 9 girls I have had and then I neuter them at 6 months or just before depending on size and the vets opinion. This will probably stop the bickering but get them booked in the same day, take them in together and ask the vet to pop them back together. They will let them come round alone then when they have fully woken my vet puts them back together and when I collect the buns I take the others in the group with me and drive them home in the same carrier so that they get the smell etc and cuddle in the car. Some vets say keep them seperate but all of mine have gone back to company providing you can monitor that they eat within the 24hours after.
You will also need to remove hay and shavings before they come home anyway because its quite a big wound on females and it makes it new to them all again and I have never had a problem.

I was wondering about putting them all into a dog ctae for the day after their op, so they acn be closely monitered but can stay together, and it'll be warmer for them.
Would this be a good idea?

Re: Might be getting 2 girls spayed
Are your rabbits outdoor rabbits then? Mine are too and I havnt brought them in like most do, our house is way too hot and I feel the change in environment and extreme temps is more strssfull than wrapping them up in blankets in their normal house but its up to you. Another thinkg I use is a microwavable heatpad, 6 mins heat lasts up to 12 hours and can be put in their bed our if you have power outside hang a red heat bulb. I just prefer to minimise the stress as they feel bad enough and just want to go to bed. Obviously If you leave them out check them every couple of hours or more after they get home till night time just to make sure they are ok.
Re: Might be getting 2 girls spayed
Yeah they live in a shed with the other 2 buns - all 4 are bonded you see.
Unfortunatly I dont have power outside but I will defo keep checking on them, I wanted to wait til it got a bit warmer, and I dont think its too cold now, compared to a few weeks ago so im more at ease about the whole thing really.
Thanks very much for your help x

No broblem, might I suggest Aprile may, much warmer but not warm enough for flies on the wounds.
Re: Might be getting 2 girls spayed
Hi, when I took my girl to be spayed, my boy spent the whole day with her. I told the vet that they were newly bonded and it was imprtant for them not to be split and the only time they were seperate was during her op and shortly after.
The dog crate sounds a good idea for the first 24 hrs, see if you can take all of them to the vet with the crate and then put them all in the crate again when you get home. Bit of a squash but at least you will preserve the bond!
Is there a less hot room in your house they could stay in or perhaps turn the heating off for 24 hours?
Best of luck with it all!

Re: Might be getting 2 girls spayed
Thanks for your replys, Iv booked them in for tuesday. Cant really wait any longer coz they are starting to squable a bit.
I will see how they are when they get back and might pop them all in the crate in the kitchen [coolest room].
The vet said they should be okay to come home shortly after 1pm depending. So they might be okay just outside
