Brynn's getting spayed today
Hi all,
I took Brynn in for her surgery, and now I'm getting very nervous!
I'll let you know when I hear from the vet... and any useful tips on how to make her as comfortable as possible when she gets home would be greatly welcome!

Re: Brynn's getting spayed today
sending loads of vibes for Brynn, im sure she will be fine. After my girls have been spayed i have made sure i have a nice warm, soft spot for them to snuggle down on....and of course yummers treats to tempt them. I would make sure that your vet gives her pain relief so she will be more comfortable too. try to limit her roaming space for the first few days so that she won't over stretch herself.
PS: I recommend a glass of wine for you, i know how nervous it can be waiting and then watching them recover

You said it!
I've just picked her up from the surgery. It went well and everyone at the vet's office fell in love with her (although I'm sure they say that to everyone).
Her cage is all cozy... yet she is choosing to hang out in her litter box. She's only taken two small and painful hops but it nearly broke my heart to see that. I know that she is probably still a little dozy from the medication, but it makes me so sad to see her like this. She is usually so lively! It makes me want to send everyone on here massive vibes for all the things they have gone through with their animals!
Quick question: Brynn's cage is normally out in the living room which is where we spend most of our time. Do you think I should keep the cage here (comfortning noises, used to the surroundings) or should I move her cage to another room where it will be quiet and or dark?
p.s. On an adorable note. Tori is just sitting outside of the cage staring in at Brynn, she obviously knows what's going on!

Re: Brynn's getting spayed today
As long as she is eating, she is getting better. When both of my girls were spayed, I brought them into our back porch (they are outdoor buns) and kept them quiet. Gave them anything that I thought they particularly loved to eat, like dandelions and just kept an eye on them. They look a bit pathetic for the first day or so, but she will recover really quickly.
If you can, without distressing her or upsetting her, try to get a wee look at her wound. Just to check that it is clean and dry and that she hasn't been nibbling. Neither of mine were happy for me to look so I had to just hope for the best as it would upset them too much to look against their will.
Hugs to you, cos I know what you are going through.
(((((((((VIBES)))))))))))) for a full recovery.
PS If the cat disappears in the next few days, it is because she reckons she's next!

Re: Brynn's getting spayed today
I'm really glad it went well for your gorgeous girl, I hope she recovers quickly, and you've done a great job with it all, Brynn is very lucky
Re: Brynn's getting spayed today
I am so glad to hear Miss Brynn is back home safe and sound. Our girls were not interested in food initially, I just made sure all their favourites were available to tempt them to eat. It took Rosie and Hollie about 24 hrs after the op to get back to normal eating.
Vibes for Brynn and a big for you. Buns can be such a worry but Brynn is so lucky to have such a caring bunny mummy.
Oh a chin rub for Tori too xx

Re: Brynn's getting spayed today
Thanks for the vibes and support everyone!
Brynn's doing so well! I am so proud of her! She is such a tough cookie! She's eating well and moving around a bit in her cage. Plus she is very eager to get nose rubs
I snuck a peek at the area this afternoon and I must say I am very impressed. It's much less gory than I was imagining . It looks like nothing more than a little scratch on her stomach (although I'm sure it feels MUCH worse). Is this standard? I ended up opting to go for the laser surgery and am interested to know how it compares to the standard surgery.

BORED!! She was begging to be let out of her cage all morning. She readily enjoyed her medicine this morning (yesterday was a tiny bit of a chore, but today she actually wanted it). By the end of the evening yesterday she had eaten everything that she normally would have (took her a bit longer to eat her pellets). Her poops are back to normal. The area looks clean; not swollen, red or pussy. She is very active now (hopping around in her cage, rearranging, standing on her hind legs to get my attention, digging at the corners, and of course lounging and flopping). I let her out for a little bit earlier and she was very happy to have some hopping time. I could tell her back end was a bit tender by the way she was holding her body but otherwise she seemed totally normal. I decided to put her away because she started ripping around the room and I didn't want her to start doing binkys or attempt other acrobatic moves!
She is doing so well it's almost scary! I feel like something has to go wrong (or at least not so right) . I'm hoping that my theory that she is just a very laid back bunny is correct; hence, she is healing so fast because she's not stressing! Either that or those are some good meds... where can I get me some? (j/k)
