Working from home - yeh right! And volunteering..
Morning everyone!
I am supposed to be working from home today catching up on case notes and my database, yet their are two little munchkins who are having none of it! I had a bendy tunnel propped at angle against a book shelf (a half hearted attempt to tidy up thumper land) and Willow managed to get up it and onto the book shelf! Lesson learned, put it away properly or leave it on the floor!
I recently got in touch with a local ladie who rescues rabbits and looks after them by herself in her garden, she has 30. Had a long chat with her today and she was telling me about the numerous calls she has had from rabbit owners who have told her their rabbit died in the heat, but the hutch was shaded when they left for work.........
She has put me in touch with a ladie from our local RSPCA who dont have accomodation, purely run by volunteers, so I am looking forward to our telephone app later to discuss how i can help in the way of volunteering - I am expecting this to include being trained for home checks, but I am just as happy cleaning out cages/hutches/runs I really dont mind - sooooo excited
Felix is licking their pellet bowl and wondering why im not filling it up as I am following your very good advice and reducing them down, she can do her 'look at me im starving and im bored of hay' face all she likes
30 mins of bunny research on the net and setting up a different adventure play ground for these starving emaciated buns who have such a hard life, and its back to the grindstone! i could get used to annual leave, seems I havent missed my job at all this last week and a bit

Re: Working from home - yeh right! And volunteering..
Oh wow! Good luck with the volunteering you'll love it! It's so rewarding. It's easy to get distracted by the buns eh
I have a friend who has recently put her rabbit outside and I was explaining to her about heat stroke and how to prevent it and the signs of it and she goes "Well I don't think that's likely to happen" I tried explaining how quickly places can get hot and how ppls rabbits have had heat stroke even when they've been in the shade...but to no avail...I also tried explaining about myxi and insect nets to go over the hutch...but ah...I'm talking to myself half the time I think!
Hope you get all your work finished I best go now cus it seems someones decided it's a good idea to wee in the corner

Ha ha, naughty little buns!
Zero work done - but on the upside I had a call from my local RSPCA and they were really pleased to get the offer of help, inspite of my not being experianced, and are comming round for a coffee friday to talk about what I can get involved in! Wahoo! Really looking forward to helping and to learning more - its all good! While I was on the phone to her willow started to chew my trouser leg and nipped my ancle! It would be just my luck when they come round, my very well behaved and friendly buns will turn into ferocious beasts and pee up the walls just to show me up

Ahhh well done on the volunteering. I do a liccle bit at my local rescue and I absolutely love it! Its so rewarding.
I suspect that during the visit they will run riot! Its part of being a bun I think.
I remember the day I had another hh member round and was bragging about how "brilliant" daisy was at using his litter tray, when he promtly took a big wee in the corner of the living room no finished had I finished the sentence "we never have any accidents".
When I was home studying for my exams in the last sitting I got absolutely nothing done due the the cheeky attention seeking that was going on!!!

Re: Working from home - yeh right! And volunteering..
We should be ok with the RSPCA people sat on the sofa, as Wills and Felix wont jump up there when there are strangers sat there, which means they wont litter it with poo, then I wont have to do my stern 'no! toilet!', and then Felix wont binky about, toss her head, and then jump back up for us to go through it all again - Its like when you have a toddler and they have a broad vocab, and yet when people visit they say things like 'me want juice' - so frustrating
I have had a long chat with a lady form the RSPCA today, and she is sooo lovely, really appreciative of the offer, and she will be bringing the local 'rabbit co-ordinator' who is a volunteer who has sheds in his garden that he has built, and takes care of 20 or more rabbits. I would be happy just going round and cleaning hutches for him to be honest (and picking his knowledgeable brain of course)
Yasmins very excited, and she cant wait to hear about all the bunnies that are being cared for at the moment, Willow and Felix have declined to comment, having had their pellets reduced they are in a strop, and quite frankly do not have it in them to think about other rabbits while they themselves are living in this deprivation - I will tell them they can complain direct to the RSPCA friday

Unfortuantley for them, the RSPCA lady cancelled as she had double booked herself. We are now going to the rescuers house instead on saturday - Im sure they will get their chance to complain, Im willing to pass on any note in an envelope marked 'private and confidential'

You should check in your garden to make sure they havent made a giant "HELP" sign in bunny poo, to attract the attention of passing aircraft.
