Sleeping with the bunnies!
My daughter is having her BFF to sleep over tonight, and as I am in the process of stripping wall paper in my daughters new room, the one she had was decorated for a 4 yr old in a 'disney princess' styleeee, now she is a 9 year old tom boy who is is into 'Doctor Who' in a very big way - so anyway, gone is all her babyish furniture to make way for the new stuff when the room is ready.
So she and her friend will have my room tonight, and I will be sleeping in the lounge. This is going to leave me open to bunnie abuse, I anticipate being jumped on, the ball in the water bottle going 'click, click, click, click' - mad running around, Felix thumping at something/nothing, and generally a disturbed night!
I plan to watch all kinds of scary movies and make a night of it, perhaps i should run around with the hay bag and get them to chase me in the hope they will sleep from 12 till 6?
P.S, dont feel too envious about the wedding, me and Wills go way back and he really is quite boring - he asked me to marry him and I turned him down, he was a bit of a chav, Kate got 'sloppy seconds'

Re: Sleeping with the bunnies!
I survived!
It was quite an interesting night! I didnt get much sleep as I was too interested in what the monkeys were up too - we had a big 'danger alert' episode - and then I noticed a pair of eyes at the back door and it was next door's cat with its face against the glass eyeing up the little black and white yum yums, and resulted in me shouting 'bleeper off sophie!!!' at the top of my lungs out the back door then realised it was midnight and my neighbours may wonder why I was verbally abusing their beloved kitty - they are yet to realise their cat is infact the sporn of satan and we have been arch enemies for some time now.
I left the hall light of for the children, and must of woke up about 3 and had a surreal moment where I opened my eyes and saw the rabbits staring at me 2 inches from my face, that was quite strange - I then put the duvet over my head as I was worried about them digging in my hair and giving me nightmares. I then woke up at 6 for the bunny 500, seems I was part of the track and assualt course.
All in all it was a good night!
I went to visit the couple that run the local rabbit rescue from their back garden yesterday (which is why I havent been on here, I was given a large and fantastic 'bunny info fix' from that!), lovely lovely couple, great set up, spent 2 hrs there chatting the ladies ear off, learning about all her buns individually, how they do things there, the inner world of rabbit care and the differences of opinion, the politics around who does what which way, how voulteering to spend a couple of hrs a week helping can swiflty turn into having 30 rabbits in your care, how to set boundaries and what you are willing to do, it was just amazing. Learnt loads and loads, got some great advice for my two, and feel somewhat initiated into the inner sanctum - its a bit like the freemasons, loads goes on and the general public just arent aware of it!
Been given loads of options of what i can do to think about, and how much time I can spare, so I am going to be sensible and think about what I can commit too, i could quite easily volunteer to live in her back garden in a tent and give up material possessions and any sense of hygiene - though my daughter may not like this idea, and my mother would call the police.
The last time I got really interested in a subject not generally well known about, i volunteered for 2 hrs a week, and within a year I was employed as a fulltime member of staff, i have now been doing that for 6 years. This volunteering route does not have the potential to turn into a fulltime job that will pay the bills so i will reign myself in a bit. Hopefully it will scratch the itch and bunny mania will no longer take over to the point where I am researching stuff when I am supposed to be working or asleep - and hopefully I will reduce the work load for a lovely couple who have had their lives and their home taken over by other peoples 'impulse' buys. Willow and Felix should benefit hugely from an injection of experiance and knowledge into their care also, and Yasmin really enjoyed our visit yesterday and is keen to help as well.
On the 'downside', I work fulltime, am a single parent, i childmind for 2 other children when I finish work one day a week, Yasmin does Irish dancing and competes nationally which takes up 2 evenings a week and most saturdays, i also co-facilitate a 'pirates' childrens sailing club one evening a week, so forgetting cleaning the house etc, I probably have one evening a week and sunday to spare.... so many lovely things to do, so little time
Hope you guys are having a lovely weekend, and have enjoyed reading my mile long rant/life story

Re: Sleeping with the bunnies!
I really enjoyed reading every bit of that post, it really made me smile.
Can I just ask? When do you have time to scratch your bottom?? You are soooooooooooo busy!
Sounds like you are going to love the volunteering, and like you say its going to give you so much experience and knowledge, I think it is completely wonderful!
That is exactly what next doors cat used to do to daisy....press their bloomin faces up against my french doors licking their lips! Demons! My boy is so tiny too.
I wonder what the twosome were thinking as they were watching you sleep??

Re: Sleeping with the bunnies!
I love the idea of them standing watching you.
Conversation goes like this:
Willow 'Do think she's asleep yet, that bit of carpet looks so appealing!'
Felix 'I'll just have a sniff to make sure then it's all yours but leave a bit for me.'

Re: Sleeping with the bunnies!
I have the gift all us females have Katie, multi tasking! I scratch my butt any where, I have no shame I have a massive extension lead and I am contemplating taking the ironing board up to the sailing club tommorow and ironing while I watch Yasmin sail and shout at her like a fish wife 'YASMIN!!! DONT YOU DARE TAKE YOUR LIFE JACKET OFF, IM WATCHING YOU!!!!) I have to get up at 5 am to do jobs on weekdays and end up going to bed about 9 most nights as I am shattered - in my next life i will be a 'yummy mummy' like some of the women I speak to in the playground - you know the type, the 'I drive a people carrier even though i only have one child, my husband works and I watch loose women before going to costa with my friends, its all rush rush rush in time to get precious from school, know any good childminders...?' Pah!
I like to imagine the antics of willow and felix with the mission impossible theme tune in the back ground, trying to work on a cunning plan to get the tub of pellets of the fridge, scaveging for bits and bobs to make climbing ropes etc, and my waking up interupted their plans.
They have now taken to running to the front door when someone knocks, thank god they cant bark, I am hoping they will eat any post that resembles a bill.
Bunny mansion is spread across the garden in bits waiting for my stepdad to come and put it together - Yasmin and Willow and Felix are chilling today, none of them have really moved, Willow and felix look like those stuffed rabbit slippers sat side by side - I have taken a photo and will put it up shortly

Re: Sleeping with the bunnies!
If we have really sick bunnies we move them into the front room in an indoor cage and usually hubby or myself will sleep next to them on the sofa so we can keep an eye on them if they should need us in the night and we have heard all sort's of things, sometimes when they are drinking from the water bottle it seems to go on for ages and ages and ages, then there is the crunching sounds as they find their fenugreek crunchies or decide to nibble on a willow twig at 3.30 in the morning, then theres the little sounds they seem to make as they are eating, a sort of 'I'm enjoying eating this' sound...if you know what I mean. Then you have the ones that snore and oh boy do they snore! and there are the ones who decide to move their hay from one side of their indoor home to the other in the middle of the night and all you can hear is hay being trodden on, nibbled and flattened

Re: Sleeping with the bunnies!
Bunnies.....snoring!
When we go to my nans to visit we take the boy and sleep on a blow up bed in the same room as him. He is penned though because I would feel terrible if he nibbled a hole in my nans carpet!!
Last time we got woken up as he was shaking the bars of the pen....I assume trying to get out!
Felix and willow are just such little monkeys. I sooooo love naughty buns!

Re: Sleeping with the bunnies!
Just caught up on reading all of this.... sounds like an eventful night!
My two live in my bedroom and normally free range when I'm asleep unless they become very naughty...for example the other morning I opened my eyes to two bunnys sittin infront of me on the bed trying to sneakily eat a mini egg...loooking very pleased with themselves. I had to promptly confiscate it and shoo them off...they were back in due course to search for crumbs and what not...licking the duvet and pillows and hoping I was asleep again pahaah
