Sleeping on bare cage floor Empty Sleeping on bare cage floor

Post by **Louise** Mon Aug 30, 2010 7:44 pm

Hi everyone, want to ask you a question please.

All my bunnies are in their own dog crages but have free run of an area of the living room for most of the day.

They each have a litter tray and toys in their crates and I have tried hay or sawdust or blankets or even expensive rabbit beds for the rest of the crate floor as a comfy base for them to sleep on but no matter what I put in for them, they always brush it aside and sleep on the bare crate floor!! I thought it was just a funny quirky thing that Amy did but all of my bunnies do it. I even bought then some vet bed to line the crates but each bunny, lifted it, bunched it to the side and slept on the bare crate floor again???

Do any of your bunnies do this?

mine used to wee on blankets and stuff which was very annoying - so ended up sleeping on the floor - they now sleep on hay in the shed and the cats have all the vet bed and blankets.

Trust Daisy to be different Laughing Laughing

Mine are the same as the rest. Last winter I filled their bed bit with hay ........ and they slept beside the open wire. If they were cold they would go and snuggle I think, so they must be happy. Contrary little creatures.

I put carpet squares on the concrete in Vince's run for him to lie on, but he still chooses to lie on the bare concrete!

Most of my rabbits seem to prefer sleeping on the bare floor. My hutches and shed are all lined with vinyl flooring. They used to have blankets but they ended up covered in fur, hay and poo, so I don't bother any more. Hmmm

I think in summer months they like the cool feel of the hard surface, but that said, I think I am one of the few people who have had rabbits who genuinely enjoy sleeping in various beds too.

Cid always kicks his sawdust out of his sleeping corner and sleeps on the bare plastic. He's the only one that does that, but then Cid always is the one who has to be different.

Mine don't have any set beds, they tend just to sleep wherever, but usually amongst thier hay & sawdust

Mine like to sleep in their cardboard boxes (which are directly on concrete). I put a blanket in there and they kicked it out and continued to sleep happily on the hard cardboard.

Sometimes in the winter, if it's very cold, they'll snuggle on a piece of carpet i put in their room... but that's quite rare. Silly bunnies

We had a really hot and humid couple of days so Brynn and Hippo took to cuddling up on the big ceramic plate that I had left in their cage. Quite hilarious!

Haha Smile Luna is the same...just rearranges everything n was sleeping on the metal floor in her crate. So the other day we got some vinyl flooring and a carpet tile to put in there...seems much happier now!! Thistle also has a carpet tile in his cage just so he doesn't feel left out Wink...
