She is such a beautiful girl. I really hope she is okay. Is it possible the babies fledged and she simply took off with them?

Re: Roberta the Robin / Update...SHE'S BACK!!!! :-)
It is so sad. I have been to my sisters today and they have a Robin they call Noddy who comes and sits on their kitchen window sill to tell them he needs feeding. I was telling them about Roberta today:(
Sending lots of come home safe vibes I have been thinking about her alto.

Still not seen her. (30th June )
Still no sighting of Roberta the robin and I now think the worse that she was ill and had an infected leg that may have spread and killed her. I have whistled her and called her name most days and walked round the garden searching for her....but nothing!
I have seen a young fledgling robin and wonder if it's her baby and I wonder when she spent those few days with us in the garden she had come to say goodbye maybe she knew and it was her way of getting food to keep strong for her babies.
I will never forget Roberta she was amazing, so tame and so lovely and I'm crying as I write this as she was just so special.
I will always hope I'm wrong and see her again

Its lovely that you have seen a new life though, I hope he grows big and strong and sticks around at the Dolittles.

I am so sorry to hear this, I would be extremely upset too.
I am glad there is a little youngster visiting you, you never know, it may be her reincarnated. Please let us know all about her antics and how she is getting on.

Re: Roberta the Robin / Update...SHE'S BACK!!!! :-)
Just can't believe it we have seen Roberta this morning :dance
She flew to the decking post where I use to leave some suet pellets for her and then she landed on the lawn and got a juicy worm which she ate in the hedge at the back of our garden, I went out and did my Roberta whistle and I could see her bobbing up and down on a branch which she always did when I would whistle her.
It's so cheered me up as I'm so down at the moment with one thing and another

Re: Roberta the Robin / Update...SHE'S BACK!!!! :-)
I could be wrong about this, but don't they change colour in the summer months? Maybe she was there all along and you didn't recognise her?
*goes away to google*
Either way, so glad you found her

Re: Roberta the Robin / Update...SHE'S BACK!!!! :-)
Maysie.. Do you think Roberta might posibly be Robert? It is almost impossible to differentiate between the sexes. And Robins are nortorious scrappers. Maybe, if she was he he might have been fighting and the leg/wing problem was a strained breast muscle. Also if she was a boy there coulld have been a second family to feed and that would account for the disappearance. Robins are quite permiscuous little birds.
We will soon be getting the robins from the continent, they come for winter and fight our robins too.

I don't know if she is a he all I know is that he/she has been here since we moved in and we leave suet pellets out for her and she is always about and will follow me round the garden, I'd know her anywhere and Mike and I think a lot about her and we thought she may have died and so we are so happy to see her again.

Re: Roberta the Robin / Update...SHE'S BACK!!!! :-)
Your little Christmas Robin has returned early and I am so pleased for you. I would love to put food out for wild birdies especially in winter, but we have cats and I am afraid of endangering them.
We love our seagulls which makes us really popular with our neighbours (not!!) and I am worried about a chick who looks as if he has been deserted. He can fly and feed himself but he still have the dappled coat of a chic. I am rather worried about him as he squeaks all the time.
Please keep us posted, I love this thread. Hearing about Roberta is really heart warming.

We use to live near Blackpool so I love seagulls and miss them. I would think as long as the baby seagull is feeding and can fly he/she will be ok, sometimes their Mum's leave them and don't come back and the poor babies don't realise at first and cry out a little but I dare say the baby will soon fly off when he/she is hungry. Young seagulls can be very vocal!

Re: Roberta the Robin / Update...SHE'S BACK!!!! :-)
When my kids were little if we saw a robin in the garden about this time of year, I used to tell them it was Santa's robin who comes to check up on all the girls and boys and make sure they are being good - usually after they had had a squabble. They used to shout to the robin and tell him what they especially wanted for Christmas.
