Re: Eye infection? U/D Probably blocked tear duct
Hi
Fudge is having a tough time of it little fella...we are back tomorrow at the vet but I suspect his eye will need flushing again. I've done the anti-biotics, the anti-biotic drops, the steroid drops (not at same time as anti-biotics ones) and it still isn't draining properly.
He is back at 10.40 but I suspect it wil need to be flushed again-which is ok but I am booked on a train at 4.45pm to go stop with my God-daughter and her Mum until Wednesday evening-even worse the tickets are already paid for my her Mum! I can't take him with me as she has two dogs and three cats and it wouldn't be fair. I need to be able to collect him and get him settled back at home by 3pm! I've tried ringing vets to see if earlier appointment but with it being weekend I can't get anywhere. I may ring first thing and see if I can pop him up first thing and aim to collect him at 10.40 appointment. I don't really want to leave him, but know Liz who looks after him is fine with doing his medicines and isn't too phased about doing his eye drops. I just don't want to leave him and the train company are sooo arsie about changing tickets!
As for Fudge in himself he is his happy cheeky chappie self-we've had some soft poops but blame the baytril so have pushed lots of hay eating...he was Grandpa's bunny all yesterday-pushing his head under my Dad's hand whenever it was floor level-whether Dad was reaching to do his shoes, tie his laces, pick up the paper or just sat-if his hand wasn't there he would headbutt his ankle!
Tonight he is sat guarding my Dad's slippers and looking for his pal

Re: Eye infection? U/D Probably blocked tear duct
We are back from the vets-they kept him for a few hours to flush his tear ducts again-apparently there is now less debris and flushed easier than a week ago. We have to continue with the anti-biotics, the drops and the anti-inflams. I've just been through it all with Liz from nextdoor as I am now away for two nights visiting my God-daughter-talk about bad timing!
Liz has promised me she will be fine and Matt the vet is happy wiht his progress. He is currently eating for England when I am not looking but looks very forlorn when Mummy can see what he is doing All his medicine is labelled and drawn up ready for his aunty Liz to do the honours.
I will try to enjoy my time wiht my God-daughter but will be on countdown to getting home on Wednesday back to my little man.
How is Thistle doing? Better than Fudgems I hope!

Glad that things are a bit better for Fudge. Loved the bit about him lurking for noserubs all the time. Your dad must have spent the day just adoring him! Just what he needed.
Enjoy your trip and try not to worry. xx

Re: Eye infection? U/D Probably blocked tear duct
How is Thistle???
Fudge had a lovely few days, having Lily (3yr old nexdoor) come to fuss and offer bunny treats kept him happy and Liz has said he behaved impeccably Why he doesn't behave me for I don't know!Well I do
Whenever my Dad around he lurks for fusses and treats-perhaps he is deep down a man's bun but does the cute Mummy's boy when it is just us two.
His eye does look better since it was done on Monday-there was a bit of gunk last night on his fur when I came back but not sure if that was missed eye drops or what. He has eaten everything he was presented with and loved his pot of corriander and his rattley ball that I gave him for his birthday yesterday.

Re: Eye infection? U/D Probably blocked tear duct
Fudge was back to the v.e.t today and had his tear duct flushed again-there are signs that it has become narrowed but they say it is a 'dwarf' thing as tubing isn't designed to deal with being flat/going round corners. We are to continue with the drops and anti-biotics etc. The appointment did confirm something I had expected-in that he has very little useable vision on his right hand side but he manages well-he has cataracts which we suspect came from E.C whilst being carried by Mum. He has had cataracts since he was about 18months old but he is into everything and knows what he wants etc so I won't worry.
It looks much improved and he is back to being a cheeky chappie well when he isn't sulking and trying to show me who is the 'real' boss! He has been switching the tv channels over tonight which his paw firmly on the remote control of the telly-normally when my back is turned! He has also nibbled a cookbook and cuddled his grandpa's slippers He is now in his bedroom early as I want to head for my duvet.
So glad Thistle is back to normal even if he has got to deal with a stroppie wifebun!Oh the joys of marriage!
Sorry for hijacking the thread! but YES Katie you are right "Buns efh?"
